This cobalt blue vase shows generous gold gilt(minor rubbing) detailing and solid gold accents as in the amazingly well done lion heads. This cabinet vase/urn has a removable top-as shown in the photos-and both the top and body are in VG condition with no cracks. Chips, or nicks. Following my personal research I believe this to be from the post Royal Vienna(The Imperial and Royal Porcelain Factory) closure. These moulds were purchased by Ernst Whaliss and were utilized by him. His sons and colleagues to continue these exquisite cabinet pieces. The watermarks are worn but appear to absolutely be genuine-with clearly ... morean absence of fraudulent over apparent(underglaze or otherwise) marks. The design is on the front with color patterns on all sides. The lid comes off for added display. Such as a use for flowers. The only damage, actual broken part is the top finial has been broken and reglued. This is not noticeable unless you look close. There is also color wear- rubs. Fine Austrian Royal Vienna Style Hand Painted Porcelain Portrait Urn/Vase. Artist Signed, c.1890-1910. This is a stunning hand painted porcelain double handle urn/ vase. The urn has a burgandy wine luster glaze ground upon white porcelain. The urn has curved double handles and is made of three pieces. The body of the vase section has a center medallion which is hand painted and signed by artist"Rosler" The painting is of a lovely maiden with beautiful details. The back side has three chinoiserie vignettes. Done in heavy raised gold gilt. The entire vase is decorated with heavy raised gold gilt scroll, floral and vine work all over the burgandy wine glaze. The pedestal stem rests above a large square plinth/ base. Each side of the vase has a different chinoiserie vignette. Gorgeous vintage or antique Sevres style urn. Estate sale purchase. So age& history unknown. Body of urn is a medium brown color with a hint of red in it, almost a brick color. On the bottom by the brass base is written in gold"Hand Painted Made in France" see photo#9) Center front is a very pretty scene of a Victorian courting couple. In the bottom right hand corner it is signed"Paul" photo#8) I looked at this scene with a jewelry loupe and I think that I can see a faint dot matrix pattern, which leads me to believe that it was possibly hand painted over an applique.
