With blow ... morehole. Flat cover with acanthus thumb piece. Wonderful embossed decoration to main body- groups of people with barrels, buildings and trees. The cover is similarly decorated. Condition is very good. There are a few dents on the handle, and one of the feet is a little bent, but easily straightened. The cover hinge is a little loose, but I think it is made this way. It is 4.5 inches(120mm) high, including the feet. Stamped to the base with letter H, a dolphin or shark, and initials C H?I think dates late 19th to early 20th century. I do not know these marks so am selling as silver plate.

Late 18th, early 19th c. in the Baroque taste. Extremely ornate carved and pierced crest and legs. Part of a 3 Piece Salon Suite that will be offered this auction. See our other listings. The settee is continental and is from Spain or Portugal. Nicks and chips to wood, fabric is worn, stained and torn. A fantastic work of carved art measuring 48" high, 68" long. Baroque furniture was in vogue during the late 17th Century. Italian baroque architects Gianlorenzo Bernini and Francesco Borromini had showcased their innovative designs in Rome. By this time, the baroque design was only on the surface of the furniture, but ... morelater towards the last quarter of the century, a lot of changes were introduced into the design. At this time, caryatids and the scroll patterns were introduced. Using the caryatid and scroll patterns in baroque designs means the use of female figures along with scroll-shaped and spiral-turned legs to support the structure of the furniture. Up for auction today is a truly wonderful antique European porcelain figurine of cupid. He stands 14.5" tall and appears to be in very good condition for the age. All fingers are intact and there are no repairs that I can see. No chips to flowers or other delicate parts. There are signs of age mostly on the bottom of the base. Handpainted throughout including the blue border at bottom of the base. Base has a makers mark. But I am unfamiliar with this one. Please contact me with any questions you have. Up fo r auction is a fine antique Frenc h dresser jar. The jar is made of heavy gauge continental silver. It is 2 5/8" in diameter and 2 3/8" high. It is larger with the overlapping lid. This antique jar still has the vermei l on the inside. The beautiful chased cartouche on the lid was never engrave d. The jar is fully marked. It was made by J. Granvigne of Paris. He worked in the late 19th and early 20th century on 4 rue Beranger. The jar is in very good used condition. Great addition to a fine collection.

Another fabulous find. This is an antique continental silver vanity box. This piece is from the late 1800's. Etched and embossed by B. Wicker GR. This piece is fashioned after a famous French painting by D'apres Lancret. the title is called Le Collin Maillard which means"Blind Man's Bluff" The box is made from continental silver(800- 833) and I believe it originated from France. It measures approximately 5" x 3.25" with the top cover having a slight overhang at the front. T he interior of the box has a pillow top cushion that appears to have been made from silk with tiny buttons creating the pillows. The sides have silk material on them also. The scene on the top of the box portrays a courtyard scene with several people playing blind man's bluff. The side and rear panel of the box are embosssed with beautiful ... morescrollwork. It comes with no mouthpiece. Any regular clarinet mouthpiece will work. It comes in a sturdy hard case. The black exterior fabric has some surface wear and the plush red interior fabric is good. It has under glazed blue cross sword marks with an S over it. The sculpture depicts a drunken Silenus sitting on a donkey. A lady sits in front of the donkey next to a basket of grapes. There is a putto pulling the donkey's tail and another figure balancing Silenus on the donkey. The figure with the blue robe is missing his big toe. You don't see it but you can feel if you rub your thumb there. The tip of Silenus's right thumb is chipped. Otherwise the piece is in very good to excellent condition.
