Oklahoma, is a small town with alot of history, located just east of Oklahoma City. These bricks are hard to come by as McLoud has always been a small town. So there were not a lot of these bricks made, and the stamp they used back then to stamp McLoud was light so a lot of them are unreadable now making them even more sought after. These 2 bricks here are 2 of the best readable ones I have come across to date. Established in June 1895 the original town was destroyed by flood and rebuilt on higher ground 1 mile south. As of 2010 it had just over 4,000 people. In 1949 it was recognized as the"Blackberry Capital of the World" when the Chamber of Commerce sent a crate of blackberries to President Harry Truman. The Blackberry Festival is still held there today. The Oklahoma City. Oklahoma brick is in excellent shape for it's age. It was made by the Cleveland Vitrified Brick Co. in Oklahoma City. Oklahoma. The company started on. 12 July 1905. in Cleveland, Oklahoma then built another plant in Oklahoma City. 22 Dec. 1905.The town of Cleveland, Oklahoma was named in honor of then President Grover Cleveland. Charles Ross Anthony, was the founder of the Oklahoma based C.R. Anthony Stores, started his retail career with the J.P. Martin Co. in Cleveland& later established one of his own stores in Cleveland. U[p for bid is a terrific vintage advertising brick from the Fulcher and Dyas Company of Nashville. Tn. It is in good condition for its age, with the shown dings and losses, but nothing major or unsightly, and it is in otherwise VERY solid condition. The pictures show two different colors, because midway through the shoot, a bead of sweat fell off my forehead and onto the nrick, and after wiping it, the red color underneath just"popped" We left it alone though, and just snapped some quick shots and it dried nearly immediately. Two Vintage Lawn Sprinklers. One is Shabby Chippy Yellow. Marked Nelson. It has 3 Arms, and has a Whirlybird effect, each arm has 5 holes which sprays water around. Cool looking"Feet" on base. Second one may be Rare, Marked Adel, Pat. Pend. Red Paint, sits flat. I looked on E-Bay but couldn't fine one like it. Both are Metal, Adel is Heavier, must be cast steel or iron. Actually the yellow one is also kind of heavy, so it doesn't move around too much on the lawn, like the newer plastic ones. Nelson: about 8" from arm to arm. Vintage McLoud. Oklahoma Brick Red In Color This brick comes from the small town of McLoud. Oklahoma, located just east of Oklahoma City. These bricks are hard to come by as McLoud has always been a small town. So there were not a lot of these bricks made, and the stamp they used back then to stamp McLoud was light so a lot of them are unreadable now making them even more sought after. This brick here is one of the best readable ones I have come across to date. Established in June 1895 the original town was destroyed by flood and rebuilt on higher ground 1 mile south. As of 2010 it had just over 4,000 people. In 1949 it was recognized as the"Blackberry Capital of the World" when the Chamber of Commerce sent a crate of blackberries to President Harry Truman. The Blackberry Feisteville is still held there today. Chimney 100 ft. antique vintage red brick architectural salvage 1 million bricks
Want to own a 100 foot tall red brick chimney from the 1860's? Built during the civil war for the increased production at this New England Thread Mill. The Gardiner Hall Jr. Company Thread Manufacturing Co. Was built so high because the entire mill was originally wood fired for the steam processing and they needed good draft to keep the wood burning. Water power from the lake above provided the mechanical power to turn the looms,etc. I don't really know but guess there are close to 1.000,000 bricks in it. It is about 14' wide at the base where the walls are 2' thick and tapers to 6' at the top where it is about 16" thick. There is also a trash burning area at the bottom that you can somewhat see in the photos which has a steel door access which goes with the chimney. There is a copper cabled lighting rod protection ... moresystem in place that goes with it as well. Take it away and rebuild it at your place or sell the bricks or buy the whole thread mill building from me. You're responsible for all labor. Material, etc. required to dismantle this chimney and must a have a liability insurance policy naming me additional insured before work can begin. $10.000 for it all comes out to one penny per brick! Really nice red and black primitive seed planter. Handles and boards are wood while the box is tin. Hinge on the lid is present and works great. Looks like one leather strap is torn. Vintage Red Brick "Don't Spit on Sidewalk" Early 1900's Original Kansas
Vintage red paving brick from the early 1900's(conflicting info as to the exact date these were used) Stamped with"Don't Spit on Sidewalk" as part of a health campaign that began in Kansas to prevent the spread of germs from public spitting. Especially the germs of tuberculosis. The actual brick maker is unclear as well. The Kansas State Historical Society cites the original manufacturer as a brick maker in Topeka. It goes on to say that possibly 2 other brick makers took over the task of stamping every fourth brick. These bricks were laid in sidewalks to remind them of the public nuisance of spitting. This brick is in good condition. And came to me through relatives from Kansas. Photos above show the brick's condition as far as chips and broken corners. Stamped area of brick is worn from foot traffic, but the words ... moreare still very clear. Not a common piece of history but there are a few being sold.
