Please note on 4th picture that one of the hinges has a small hole in the metal. From bottom of base to the highest point of the hinge, it measures approx. 6" the widest part of the base is 2 1/2" wide; the diameter of the hole where the hinge itself went is approx. 5/8" in diameter; the diameter of the bolt holes in the base is approx. 7/16" If someone were to find a dowel or metal rod of the right diameter, this would make an wonderful rack or holder- there could be many wonderful uses of these historic, durable beautiful pieces! This is an antique flag holder for mounting a flag to the outside of a building. According to the previous owner. This holder was originally installed on a prominent home in Greenwich, Massachusetts. Greenwich ceased to exist in 1938 when the town was flooded to make way for the Quabbin Reservoir. It is about 15" long. And can hold a pole with a diameter up to 1-1/2" It weighs about 6 pounds. these iron pieces were original to the house I live in. In 1957. reworking the porch, I had no further use for the iron. I love ornate iron, but I cannot think of a use for the stuff. my loss, somebody elses gain. a total of 8 sections weighing about 10 lbs each.just a fair guess.

LARGE. HEAVY, CAST IRON, QUADRANT SHAPED, POSSIBLY VICTORIAN RAIN WATER HEAD Having complied with a request to visit a property and value an amount of unwanted items. I was refreshingly surprised at some of the unusual pieces that confronted me. Invariably in this house clearance business we get the‘muddy end of the stick! being offered the‘dregs’ as it were. I have often thought that I should change the name on the vans to‘Civic Dump Ltd’ or some such associate! However, enough of my bellyaching. This particular house was owned by an elderly lady and being somewhat infirm with arthritis she had found that she could no longer cope with such a large property, let alone manage the staircase. Her intention was to move in with her widowed sister and they could both share the expenses and the chores. I did try to explain that if it was anything ... morelike my family, the job wouldn’t last five minutes! Anyhow, I valued the’bits’ paid and duly removed them back to the yard. Some bits and pieces found in the attic were of special interest as they were literally the remaining contents of an old chemist shop. Mrs’K’ did explain that back in the 1920’s through to the early 1950’s her grand parents had a pharmacy in Bradford, which, she is now truthfully informed, is a Chinese Emporium.say no more! What follows is the best of the’smalls’ including a varied assortment of the pharmaceutical stuff. Some of the bits have had to have a’wipe over’ to enable decent photographic reproduction. This item came out of the garage. There wasn’t much else in this area only garden tools and a lawn mower. Invariably people's garages are crammed with stuff whilst the car stands in the drive. Not in this case however.pity. The item you see is a rain water head or hopper. Its undamaged, its made of cast iron and its possibly Victorian.
