Offered is an antique Garden Gnome dating circa the 1920’s-1930’s. Measuring approx. 11 inches in height this antique cast iron figural doorstop is in the form of a Garden Gnome or Elf. Weighing approx. 6 pounds. The whimsically charming Garden Gnome wears a red pointed cap, brown coat and shoes, and green leggings. His long beard is painted gray. The bottoms of his pointed shoes have bits of old coffee-colored felt glued to them. The doorstop is a two-piece casting, joined with two flathead screws on the back. There are traces of old plaster under the paint, which originally filled the seams. Unsigned by the maker, though attributed to HUBLEY or another cast iron doorstop/toy maker of the same era. This antique Garden Gnome is in good condition. His paint is good and old, perhaps with areas of overpaint(the leggings look to have two layers ... moreof green, the cap may have two layers of red, though I am not certain) Any possible overpaint is also old.
