We found this amazing piece of ornamental ... morearchitecture at a recent estate sale! The age is unknown but its believed to date to the late 1800s. Exactly what it is we do not know- a corbel? a ship's decorative support? temple ornamentation? Unfortunately. It's history was unavailable and our attempts to research the piece have produced nothing. We do know it's Chinese- made of wood and hand carved with incredible detail! Hopefully someone looking knows what it is- or(like ourselves) just finds it an intriguing conversation piece! It does have a relatively substantial amount of wear and tear to the wood from age and exposure to elements- the pictures provided show the actual condition- there are multiple cracks. Chips, erosion and discoloration of the wood, and what may be insect damage. The decorative carvings are fragile with some pieces having chipped away over the years but overall it is still an amazing piece of art that with some TLC could make for a wonderful addition to any collection or perhaps can be repurposed for more practical use! It measures ~ 14 1/2" in length. ~ 5 5/8" wide, and stands ~ 7 7/8" tall. Not only is this a large piece- it is also a heavy piece so shipping costs should be taken into consideration when bidding! Highly collectible today for home use. As this striking pair shows. Deeply carved in the Bali tradition, solid natural wood, seems like oak, they weigh a ton. I purchased these from an antique dealer in Carmel several years ago. Who had lived in Bali and Indonesia and had these shipped over many years ago. They stand stand 17" 17.5" tall(one a tad bigger than other) Including a 2" thick top, approximately 50" in circumference, measured around the middle. Base is about 3" thick and measures about 14" with octagonal corners. Top measures 19"x 20" for one, other is 18.5"x 19" These are beyond fabulous for tables! They are so heavy and solid. I would guess they weigh at least 100 pounds plus, or more. Original paint, pinks, yellows, greens, more, all deeply carved with the ancanthus leaves, portion of a face in one. Symbolic I am sure, but I only know that they are antique, solid hand carved, with beautifully weathered old natural rustic paint. They are carved all the way around. I cannot hardly move to photo! Beyond shabby chic! Fabulous patina! The natural wear of salvage but that is their beauty! One side on each has a crack that doesn't go through that only adds to the patina. Please see photo of the only one to me, of any consequence, does mot interfere with use. Usually when found they are all cracked from weather but these still retain their artistic solid qualities! One of a kind pair that stand nice and solid. Almost cannot be moved, these are not tourist carvings. These are ready for use as end tables that can show off

Up for auction is an antique woodenware carved architectural eagle recently found at auction in the suburban Philadelphia. PA area. It is found in good used condition but has two chips which appear to have been repaired. This has been turned into an interesting sculpture by being mounted on a modern base. It does have a nice look! The eagle has a"Black Forest" carved appearance and is carved from walnut. It was originally mounted on something, such as apiece of furniture or on a mirror. Hi. I just returned from my favorite import/export dealer where I bought these great antique inspired capital tops. Please not that these pieces are a reproduction piece. They look like the real deal. The capital tops were imported from Mexico. Each top is a little different. They are hand carved from a soft wood. The tops have a Smokey chicory like smell. The capital tops are great for a cloche or ant type of display. This auction is for ONE top. I have not been able to get these pieces in over a year, so if you want one buy it while it lasts! Carved parts are applied to basic piece-see photos. 21 1/2" wide. Total thickness is about 4" There is a small piece missing from the applied layer part on(facing it) right side. Look closely at the center of the carving and some of the thin layers have come apart and need secured if you want. This auction is for both items combined for one price. Each piece is 19" long for a total length of 38" Thickness is 3/4" There is a raised piece that runs above the zigzag pattern and the thickness of that piece and the main piece combined is 1 1/4" Eastlake design. This piece has been stripped of most of it's original finish. Nice carved detail. Missing pieces to build or rebuild or create something new. Not sure what the wood is. I believe the carving is hand done as it does not line up perfectly-see photo-the pieces are the same but not identical. Antique salvaged pieces.

These are a very nice and unusual carved wood bullseyes. They have a soft minty green painted color that was done years ago. These measure 5 1/2" wide and are 8" tall. Antique Architectural Salvage Hand Carved Wood Griffin Or Lion With Wings
This is a very cool looking antique architectural salvage handcarved wood Griffin or a lion with wings. It probably dates from the very late 19th to very early 20th century. It measures 10 inches tall(25.4 cm) It is 7 1/2 inches deep(19 cm) At the bottom in the front at the scroll it is 3 inches wide. But most of it is 2 inches wide(7.6 cm, 5.1 cm) I have a strong feeling this was from the front of the arm of an armchair. If you look at the bottom. You will see that one side has a strip of wood attached, whereas the other side doesn't. In the back of his head it looks as if there was another piece there which is missing(please see photos) It's developed a great old brown patina to it. It weighs just under 1 lb. 3 oz. 530 g)

Architectural Salvage-Piece of Carved Wood Door Frame-maybe from Bath, England
I purchased at an estate sale. It had the tag on it when I purchased it. I have no idea if the representations are true. Or partially true. I certainly know the 14c and 1800's are two different time periods. Has a very nice patina. The wood is certainly petrified like, and I love the worm or termite holes. It has a gold teeth like hanger on the back and was previously hung vertically with rubber pads at the other end to prevent it rubbing off on the wall. The hangar portion is at the rough end of the piece. Overall, it is 17 inches long and 4 1/2 inches wide. It is 1 3/4 inches deep. Happy to answer specific questions.
