ANTIQUE VICTORIAN SERVANTS OR FRONT DOOR BELL WITH BELL PULL
Please see the pictures below the description You are bidding on an antique Victorian bell. Which is possibly a servants bell, but more likely a front door bell from a large house. I am not sure if the bell is bronze or bell metal- there is no maker on it, just the number'14' cast on the side. It is mounted on a spring steel coiled strip which is fixed on a square attached to the wall. There is no square mount with the bell. Unusually, the bell still also has its square steel bell pull with rectangular shaped brass knob. This would have gone through the door frame and a wire would be attached to the hole in the end, the other end being attached to the ring on the bell. Its condition is good and original, but it needs a clean as this has not been done for many, many years. But please make up your own mind about this. It would have originaly hung on the end of a thick ornate bell pull. The type you see in the drawing rooms of very grand country houses. You can picture it hanging in the corner of one of those really over the top baroque rooms full of huge paintings and gilded furniture! Antique Victorian Brass and Ceramic Interior Bell Pull, Ornate
This is a pretty Victorian brass and ceramic interior bell pull. It dates from the late 19th century and has the makers mark"T.P and S" stamped in 2 places. There is also the number"7618" It has an ornate brass handle and 2 ceramic parts. These are embellished in gold and this enameling is worn in places. The bell is approx x 12.6 cm(5 inches) long and from the screw fitting to the centre of the large ceramic is approx 7 cm. There is the remains of a chain attached to the bell pull. When viewed from above the smaller handle looks slightly bent forward. I'm unsure if there are any pieces missing but what you see in the photograph is in overall good vintage condition.
