Both blocks are made of solid, Douglas Fir, and both have a brown, faux wood grain paint. The tip of one of the ends on one of the blocks broke off at some point. It's not immediately noticeable. But you could tell if you look at them carefully. You could still join both locks together using the other ends, which are intact. Otherwise, the blocks only have the typical nicks, scrapes, and scratches that you would expect to find on 100+ year old blocks.
