Also known as the refractory industry, became a multimillion-dollar firm with branches all over the world. His refractory products contributed significantly to the largest period of industrial growth in United States history. They also played an essential role in the winning of two world wars and the massive rebuilding projects that took place afterward. While working for Evens and Howard. Green visited the Mexico Brick and Fire Clay Company. A small fire brick plant in Mexico, Missouri. The company sat nearly on top of a prized vein of clay. Green was impressed with the large clay deposits near the surface of the ground. In fact. The area in and around Audrain County once had one of the ... morerichest deposits of fire clay in the world. This natural resource was especially suitable for refractory purposes, and it could easily be mined by the open-pit method with steam shovels, thus avoiding expensive underground extraction. Confident of the plant’s potential. Green encouraged the owners of Evens and Howard to purchase the Mexico facility. When they declined. Green decided to buy it himself. It was 1910. Antique ADT Oval Fire Alarm Bell/Box Station Wall Mount ~ Pat. 1908 Industrial
No shipping outside the US From a local estate ~ Oval cast iron wall mount fire alarm box. Measuring 8 1/2" by 5 1/2' on the flat back side, and 5' from front to back. Appears to be in good condition with nice embossed lettering which includes patent date, March 31, 1908. A brass plate inside the window reads, ADT( American District Telegraph) Still has the original metal mallet used to break the glass(in case of fire) attached to chain and plate for mounting on the wall next to the fire box. Weighs about 11 lbs. Appears to be in good condition with normal wear to the red paint. And no glass in the alarm window. Please see pictures for more details. Thanks for looking. THIS IS A SUPER OLD AND REAR PLASTER MOULD THAT CAME FROM A CRAFTSMENS FAMILY THAT LIVED IN CHICAGO IN THE 1870'S. THE FAMILY MEMBERS THAT I BOUGHT THE MOULD FROM SAID IT WAS USED TO RE BUILD SOME OF THE BUILDINGS THAT BURNED DURING THE CHICAGO FIRE. I'M NOT SURE ABOUT THE STORY AND I THINK THE MOULD IS MUCH OLDER THEN THE 1870'S. THIS MOULD COULD BE SEVERAL HUNDRED YEARS OLD. PLEASE SEE PHOTOS FOR CONDITION AND DETAILS. On March 4, 1981, it was added to the Nevada State Register of Historic Places. It is a contributing property in the Goldfield Historic District, which was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 14, 1982. The hotel is also historically haunted and has been featured on ghost hunter type shows. The hotel was in use until the end of World War II, its last occupants being officers and their families from the Tonopah Army Air Field.
