It was published in an 1849 edition of the Bilder Atlas um Conversations Lexicon Iconographische Encyklopadie der Wissenshaften und Kunste(Leipzig: Brochaus. 1849) Included is a facsimile copy of the title page with date for authenticity. The map was designed under the direction of Johann Georg Heck as stated on the title page and in the bottom left margin of the print. The map is not mounted, matted nor framed, being sold as a single sheet as seen in the first pic. Overall the map has excellent line work and a nice rich tone that would frame up well. Size: The image area measures approximately 8 by 10 inches(20x25cm) on a 9 1/4 by 11 3/4" 24x30cm) page with a margin all around as seen in the pic. Condition: The map is in Very Good condition for its age. Blank on the reverse, with light tonal ageing. It is basically as seen in the pic. Other than a couple of minor light smudges around the edges, it is very clean and would frame up well. The pics are of the actual map, although the actual map looks much better than the pics. Cowperthwait& ... moreCompany, Philadelphia. Engraved to illustrate Mitchell's School and Family Geography. It measures approximately 9 1/2 x 11 1/2(including the border areas) It is blank on the other side. Map is in Fair condition with the biggest problems appearing at the border areas. There are creases in the two bottom corners and rip extending from the top left corner into the map(see picture#5) Moderate browning and a few small rips along the edge. There are holes across the top where it was originally bound. There are some darker stains around some of the outer edges and some stains affecting the actual map area. A high quality. Double-page map published in the 1900 Times Atlas. It measures 47cm x 37cm approx. Excluding plentiful margins. Heavy paper, vertical centrefold as issued. A detailed and attractive general map of the region. Condition is very good. The printed area is bright. Clean and very fresh; the odd faint mark and speck but very minor. Margins clean; short split at the top of the centrefold. Verso is blank except for the title; remnants of binding along the centrefold. The map will be posed rolled in a posting tube. A fine original 19th century antique map from G.W. Bacon. This listing: Africa North Sheet Provenance Commercial and Library Atlas of the World. Containing one hundred inset maps. Including all the latest discoveries, Extensive letterpress descriptions, Alphabetical index, Populations from the latest censuses, Gazetteer of 2,000 principal towns, Statistical diagrams and tables, etc. Edited by G.W. Bacon. F.R.G.S. Publisher London: G.W. Bacon& Co. Limited, 127 Strand. 1893. The maps for sale here are all at least 115 years old. I removed them from the damaged atlas myself. Size/ Format In millimeters(and inches) Sheet: 540 x 345(21 x 13½) Map: 480 X 300(18¾ x 11¾) These maps were all'tipped in' to the atlas. Meaning that they could be removed as a single intact sheet. There is a fold in the centre of each map. The ... moremaps are lithographs on heavy paper. The colors and still bright and fresh. The margins are generous. Condition The overall condition of the maps is very good/ excellent. There is the occasional spot in the margins of a few of the maps. And the occasional minor tear(always completely confined to the margins) has been professionally repaired. The photos included in the listings are of the actual maps you will receive. There is a small brownish mark on the left page of this map. Remarks This atlas is relatively scarce. I was only able to find three rather pricey examples available online. A fourth is in the custody of the UK National Archives. Many of the maps that appeared in this atlas were originally published by Bacon in the 1860s as the highly sought after Weekly Dispatch series of maps. These maps are unusually rectangular with a length to width ratio of 1: 1.56. Which was, and is, unusual. The double maps are somewhat longer or'taller' than usual when vertical, and somewhat longer'wider' than usual when horizontal. Meaning that they could be removed as a single intact sheet. The double maps have a single fold in the center. The single-page maps have no folds at all. Condition The overall condition of the map is very good. The colors are bright and vibrant and the quality of the printing is excellent. Minor foxing and spots in the margins; otherwise very ... moregood. ALL THESE MAPS ARE PRINTED ON ONE SIDE ONLY. Remarks These maps are from the First Edition of. Many of the maps are based on maps that first appeared in Richard Andree's Algemeiner Hand-Atlas(Leipzig. 1880s) which is considered one of the most visually pleasing atlases from the late 19th century. The maps are finely detailed and the printing is sharp and crisp with no off-setting. The paper is heavy and still quite bright, with only minor even age-toning to the extremes of the margins.

Size/ Format 22.5" x 17.5" 57.6 cm x 44.8 cm) One fold in the centre. The margins are clean and range form 0.5" to 0.8" 1-2 cm) on all sides. These maps were all'tipped in' to the atlas. Which means they can easily be removed as a single sheet with a fold in the centre. Condition Very good. The colors are bright and fresh. The maps themselves. And the margins, are very clean. There are no tears, stains, discolorations or soiling whatsoever. The atlas from which these maps ... morewere removed did NOT spend its life at a public library. It was part of a private collection and was treated very well. Remarks The publication of the Times Survey Atlas in 1922 was the culmination of six years of painstaking work and. With the combination of political and the physical colour range from dark green to dark brown to indicate elevation, it marked the beginning of the age of'modern cartography. It surpassed any atlas before it in terms of scope(112 double-page folio map) and accuracy. Many of the maps published in this atlas were used in other atlases in many countries as recently as the 1970s. These maps will look great framed and hung individually or, on a large wall, in groups. COUNTRIES OF THE NILE measures 25 x 19 inches, and although not perfectly smooth, is in nice condition(see images above) It was removed from a large NGS Atlas Folio collection of maps. The maps were folded in the center and adhered at the spine of the folio with water soluble hinges. The folio from which this map was removed was 19 1/2 x 14 inches and is shown above for reference only. It is NOT included with this item. M aps were originally shipped folded before they were placed in the folio. Therefore there are light creases at the folds similar to maps received with NGS magazines.

Taken from a dilapidated edition of the 1908 Harmsworth Atlas. An attractive map with great detail. Measures approx 35cm x 48cm excluding borders. With a horizontal centrefold as published. The‘Industries and Communications’ maps are some of the most interesting in Harmsworth. Not least because of the huge amount of trade information they convey. Across the map the names of the principal products and industries by area are printed in red. The main through routes by land are shown. The map also shows principal sea routes including distances and durations for the most important. Locations of British and American consuls are shown. Second class postage in the UK is £2.60 plus £1.10 for the tube giving a P&P total of £3.70. I am delighted to combine postage for multiple buys. By the way the size limit for postal tubes in the UK to be classified as'small parcels' is 45cm; as the Times maps are around 44cm wide the only way I can get them inside this limit ... moreis by using round bits of hardboard as end stoppers on the posting tube rather than the normal plastic ones.
