It bears a copyright date of 1873 in a small credit line below the image. The map is a doublepage one from the Atlas. And measures 17 x 24 inches in size. It is in excellent condition, with its reverse side blank. It will be shipped folded once, as originally published. The map is drawn to a scale of 20 miles to the inch. It shows New York's counties highlighted in lovely. Pale contrasting watercolors. It identifies numerous towns throughout the state, and shows many railroad lines crisscrossing New York. The map's title notes that it also includes part of Ontario. And it does present a large portion of that Canadian province's southern region. However, the map also includes all of Connecticut. As well as substantial portions of Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Vermont and New Hampshire, all also presented in nice handcoloring and detail. UP FOR AUCTION. WE OFFER THE STATE OF KANSAS 1872 A fine early vintage and genuine antique map showing all of Kansas. By Asher and Adams dated 1872. one large map sheet. Hand colored nicely by the artisans of the time. Indian lands below the state line showing the Shawnees, Quapaws, Senecas nations. All the railroads are named and proposed routes to extend the railroads further west across the open plains. Much of the western area of the state remains wild and open with no or very little white settlements. A few western army forts are shown and named. Many of the counties named in honor of famous Indian tribes, and Civil War generals and public officials. Most of the far west still has no counties measured out. Map measures about 17 x 23" Full margins all around, some light soiling, a few archival acid free repairs to a few margin tears ... moreon the reverse, hard to see. On the reverse blank side, some pencil markings from a child, and some moisture stains can be seen but not seen on the map image itself. No odors.
