For my elderly-father-who-had-everything's birthday, I made up a basket of all things from 1928 for him, and he really got a kick out of it. That's what I thought of when I saw this one(actually, I bought three, all with different years, so be sure to check out my others too) It's an old address sign, with the number 1962- your birth year, perhaps? Made from solid cast brass, it's surprisingly heavy at 6 ounces for the small size of 3 7/8" by 1 1/2. Excellent condition(just a little dusty from age) the patina of the brass is dark on the face, ... moreand brighter on the relief numbers. He has a fabulous variety and an eye for the unusual and wacky, so shopping there is Maureen’s heaven. There’s so much to choose from this week– advertising, signs, primitives, medical, and antiques galore– you don’t want to miss! I still have items from the dealer who closed, and the flea market too– yikes! I’ve got to get to work! The city of Chicago is such a wonderful city. So I'm always thrilled to find special items of history. ... moreThis one, I purchased from a dealer who bought it in Chicago at an estate sale, and he said it had been an early 1900s Chicago Building demolition acquisition, but he unfortunately did not remember what building it came from. Maybe it's something that you recognize? It's a cool piece all on its own- made from solid brass, and measuring just 4 1/2" by 2 1/2" tall by 3/16" thick, it is very hefty for its size at just over 1/2 lb- you'll feel it when you hold it. It tells a little bit of its own story on the right hand side where you can see the relief image of a fancy eagle. He has a round logo in the center that reads, Cutler, and he's holding banners in his talons that read, Cutler Mail Chute Company, Rochester N.Y. U.S. Mail Chute. On the right, is a raised geometric shape with the number 4 ingraved into the brass. The green patina that you see on the piece is not a painted or man made patina- it's gorgeous natural oxidation. The piece is in excellent solid and sturdy condition. Large Solid Cast Brass Medallion Lion Head Garden Fountain-Architectural Salvage
Large vintage solid brass medallion or finial for fountain. Or other. Heavy solid brass. The lion symbol measures 10 1/4" tall and 6 3/4" wide. Also 2 1/2" deep. There are two connecting spots on the back. One of them has the threaded insert that screws in and out. The other side is missing. The angle of the connections tells me that it went on something round. Excellent dark, natural patina on the brass front. Beautiful architectural piece. Also numbered on the back as seen in the photos.

Up for bid is what I think is an antique solid brass boiler tank. It is about 29" tall and about 20" across. It has an opening in the center. Like a large pipe could go through it. It has several joints sticking out where pipes would attach. Being sold as a decorative item not for use. It weights somewhere in the neighborhood of 50 pounds. Local pickup only in LeMars or Sioux City Iowa.

A nice set of 4 solid brass cup castors with brass wheels still in the original box wrapped in plastic. I can not determine who made them by the info on the box. They are a shiny brass finish and in excellent condition unused. The cup is 1 1/8" deep by 1 3/16" inner diameter. I do not see any real tarnish on them. They look ready to go. There are pre-drilled holes in the side of the cups for attaching. Shipping includes insurance against loss or breakage while in transit.
