1870s HUGE Folk Art Architectural Church Finial Primitive OAK Newel Post Cap
GIANT. Original, solid oak, beehive finial. Incredible primitive patina. Would also make a striking garden ornament. Salvaged from late, 19th century, Chicago church. To give a better idea of the grand staircase this was recovered from, I saved a piece of the original newel post that once supported it(last photo) Overall it measured over 7 feet tall! Now, this architectural gem makes a breathtaking piece of folk art. It proudly displays its age and history. Apparently when electricity caught on, someone added a newel post lamp on top to illuminate the stairway. Antique Primitive Architectural Cast Iron Eagle Head Bookends Natchez Solid Mold
I bought these thirty years ago in Natchez. Mississippi and was told they were architectural pieces salvaged from a 19th century building in Natchez. The eagles are(one piece mold) cast iron weighing 5 lbs each and measuring 8" X 8" X 4" They were made into bookends within the last 70 years. I wiped them down with a damp cloth to remove dust but they have not been touched while in my possession.

Up for auction are two antique carved wood architectural remnants recently found in the Saratoga Springs NY area. They are offered in as found condition. They mirror each other but one has more losses than the other. It features the original dry finish of a blueish green over what appears to have mellowed into a salmon. There are cracks and breaks on both pieces. But would be great hung as architectural ornamentation. The smaller piece is approx. 10x8" and 3/4" thick.
