Very nice stock certificate of the planters bank state of Mississippi in Natchez from 1834. Old autographs that needs more research! This paper is from J. Butler. His Anglo-Irish family first arrived in America in 1654. In the early 1800s. His ancestors Asa and Simon Butler were the first American paper makers to make paper for the U.S. Congress. In the 1830s, Oliver Morris Butler built a paper mill on the Fox River in Illinois. In 1841, Julius Wales Butler founded the J. Butler Paper Company on State Street in Chicago, IL. the oldest family owned business in Chicago. They also were the largest landowners in Du Page County. The largest without the fisherman measures 9-1/2" in length and nearly 5" to the tip of its fin. No damage. Just slight wear in some areas. The larger fish with the fisherman measures 9" in length and 5" in height. The fisherman's fishing pole is supposed to have string representing fishing line that goes to the fish's mouth which is supposed to have a small lure. Easy fix. If you look closely at the fish's tail, it looks like there may have been a repair, but from the back it doesn't. I have provided a picture of the front and back of the area. The smaller fish measures 7-1/2" in length and 4-1/2" in height. It does have some paint loss around ... morethe inside rim and fin. The fisherman is sleeping. Antique Planter's Nut& Chocolate Co. Wilkes-Barre.PA) wooden box for display of 1 cent'Clean' and'Crisp' Peanut bars. It appears there may have been a sliding cover as there is a continuous notch around the outside of the inside of the box. There are dove-tailed corners and eight small nails on the bottom, two on each side. I've seen some of these that are taller, but not as many like this. It measures 10 3/4" long, by 7 5/8" wide and 2 1/2" tall. I hope the pictures are sufficient. Shipped by USPS Priority with appropriate care. Parcel isn't available at this time. The man has a treasure chest and the the lady has a gold gazing ball. There is no manufacturers mark. But the style is reminiscent of one of the California potteries such as Kay Finch or Delee. Any help is welcome and appreciated. One of them has the decorators mark V in gold on the bottom. They measure approximately 6-3/4 inches tall by 6 inches wide. They are in excellent vintage condition. The only apology I would make are a couple of rim chips on the female and some wear to the gilding on the ball and chest. There are 2 which are almost identical. Except for some slight differences in coloring- they are pulling a cart. The third planter has a donkey that looks like he is dancing a'jig" The 2 are about 3 1/8 inches tall at the ears and about 2 5/8 inches tall at the side center of the cart. They measure about 1 3/4 inches wide and about 5 inches from nose to back of cart. I know pictures can be deceiving so the last picture is an attempt ... moreto show their size next to a Coke can(see Picture 11) One cart has JAPAN in black on the bottom. The other is unmarked(see Picture 10) The dancing donkey is about 4 inches tall at his nose and about 2 inches tall at the cart. He is just under 2 1/2 inches wide and just over 4 inches from nose to back of cart. I know pictures can be deceiving so the last picture is an attempt to show his size next to a Coke can. He is marked JAPAN in black on the bottom. But part of the N is not there(see next to last picture) They are in good vintage condition. There is a bit of light crazing under the glaze. But no chips, flea bites, or repairs. I did not use any cleaners on these- the insides show a bit of age in color, but could possibly use a little better cleaning. 2 VTG ROYAL COPLEY PORCELAIN BIRD ON STUMP PLANTERS
These two beautiful vintage porcelain Royal Copley Bird on a Stump planters are from the 1940's or early 1950's. One is a little shinier than the other and it also still has the original Royal Copley sticker attached to the back of the stump. The other one has lost its sticker. But U.S.A. is embossed on the base. Both birds measure 5 1/2" from beak to tail and are 4" tall. There are a few tiny areas of distress to the glaze, particularly around the openings, but no cracks, crazing or mended areas that I could find. Photos of the well openings have been added to this listing for your convenience, so that you can measure the amount of distress on each planter prior to purchase. Thanks for looking.
