Antique Cast Iron Architectural Stars St. Louis. MO Area c.18th-19th Centuries Set of 2- Unmatched- These are original cast iron stars that were"used as anchor plates for structural reinforcement. Particularly on masonry buildings, from the 18 and 19th centuries. They are made of cast iron and are used as tie plates serving as washers for the tie rods. The tie-rod-and-plate assembly serves to brace the masonry wall against tilting or lateral bowing.
