Some are stained, none have been cleaned as I don't dare try. There is quite a variety of dresses, pantaloons, bibs,bonnets etc. some quite lovely and in good condition, some quite worn. It's unmarked as to maker. I think it's likely circa early to mid-1900s. I believe it's in original condition. It has one interior. Multi-sectioned drawer on hinges(in need of minor repair-see below) It's constructed of walnut veneer with cedar lining, and secondary hardwood(s) The back is unfinished. Wonderful for storage and display or seating, it's both beautiful and superbly useful. CONDITION: Overall. I think it's in nice vintage condition. Solid and sturdy. Only the tiniest bit of veneer loss that I can see: a few tiny chips along the back edge. Minor nicks, imperfections normal to vintage furniture. It does have some flaws: 1) the top surface has superficial scratches and age-related splits in the veneer(but they seem shallow enough to me that I think just polyurethane(were the top refinished) and/or a walnut-tone pore filler would be enough to fill them for a flawless(or nearly so) top. 2) In the interior. Lid, left side, the wood affixing the screw supporting the pull-out shelf is stripped(please see photos; the drawer is just propped in place in the photo) so is in need of this repair. I'd probably suggest filling the oversized hole with wood scraps and glue to fill, then redrilling the hole(possibly a larger screw would work) this is left to the buyer. 3) The locks on these old chests pose a safety hazard to children(won't open from within; children can suffocate inside) and can't be sold with the lock in place. I've removed and discarded it. Leaving just the hardware(for aesthetics) so it simply opens and closes, and can be opened from inside. The buyer, if he/she desires a working lock, can probably purchase one through ebay or vi

She said she wants to give it to a good home and she recovered it from a area in Youngs Town Ohio and in the bottom in between some material ... morewas a newspaper clipping from 1906. Youngs town was a mafia town with deep deep history and great hidden wealth through various means, how this was acquired there I have no idea, but there was a lot of money there and a pirates chest with deep history rested there and changed hands and now its mine. Here is an antique Steamer Trunk Wardrobe. The sides are flat so this could be used as an interesting coffee table. The outside brass has a little oxidation and there are assorted nicks and dings from use but overall it's in pretty good shape. It has all four(4) drawers. The top drawer locks and I believe one of the keys works in that lock. All the hanging mechanisms work- the hanging bars extend out etc. I have all the wooden hangers(see photo) It smells a little musty inside but probably nothing Febreeze and fresh air won't fix. The lock on the outside works and I have two(2) original keys plus a new one I had to have made when I locked the keys inside. I have always called this the Circus trunk because I bought it in Sarasota. Florida which has very strong circus ties. Sarasota was for many years the winter home of Ringling Brothers ... moreCircus and Barnum and Bailey Circus and now has an excellent Circus Museum and the Ringling Art Museum(formerly the Ringling residence) The man I bought the trunk from said it had belonged to a circus performer. Antique French Trunk Storage Chest Raised Metal European
At auction is a very fine old French chest. It has great age. Patina on the metal and wood. It looks to be brass raised and dimpled metal, with different scenes on 4 panels. Inside of the box is 24" long by 18" deep by 13.5" wide Top lid size is 27.5" long by 15 3/4" wide. It has a tag on the under side of the lid that says made in France. There was another tag beside it but part of it is missing. The writing and the ink reenforce its age. I am not positive when it was made. But you can see from the pictures its very old. I havent been able to find anything like it to compare it to. My guess is mid 1800th century to the early 1900s. It has a few small nails missing on the bottom left back corner. Where it had been hit probably while moving it. Metal is all there just needs a few nails. Over all condition is good. ... moreIt has a small piece of wood missing at the top left corner. you can see it in the picture. It was from the nail that holds the corner together. The wood boards in the inside look like the were hand sawed, and have file, rasp marks. You can see it the picture that shows the lid opened. Not positive what the wood is but it looks to be walnut. The bottom and back are bare wood. It has 4 metal wheels on the bottom. This is a great old piece, please look at the pictures good. Any questions email me and I will respond as soon as possible. Antique steamer trunk Hump back Dome lid child size chest Tin wood or cardboard
This is bigger than a doll trunk I think. But smaller than an adult size, so I think it was probably for a child to use while traveling or for storage. 20" wide, 12 1/2" tall and 11 1/2" deep. I think it has a this layer of tin with a faux wood grain patter on it and that is either over cardboard or wood. The chest is not super heavy, about 9 1/2 pounds, so it is probably a combination of both materials. Please use the pictures to determine condition. You can tell this was used and it is showing its age. One side has the remnants of what looks like was a leather handle, but the other side does not even have the metal parts of that handle. There are some rivets missing, one of the latches on the front side is missing parts and none of the three seems functional. One of the hinges on the back side is painted green. The tin covering ... moreis scuffed and dented. Still, overall condition for its age, is not really that bad. The lid opens and closes easily and the whole trunk is still solid, not wobbly. I don't have a tray or a key for this one.

Antique Dome Top Child ~ Doll ~ Toy Trunk, Wood Storage Chest, 26x15x14
We believe this dome top trunk to be an antique. And based on it's smaller size possibly a child's trunk or toy trunk. There is no longer a label on the trunk but the inside lid has a print of a bird(see photo) feeding her chicks. The trunk is done with an interesting combination of dark brown and ivory. It looks like the ivory was painted on but probably a good while ago since there is quite a bit of rust and discoloration coming through the paint. The dark brown areas look like tin or some thin metal that has been embossed with the scrolled pattern. The interior still has quite a bit of paper inside but the paper lining is not in good condition. There is a loose bracket on one side that should probably be fixed if the trunk is going to be opened regularly. There are two latches on the front that are still intact. The lock in the ... morecenter is missing the bottom section(the piece mounted on the bottom of the trunk) The trunk could be used"as is" for a primitive decorative piece. Very unusual domed Trunk Treasure Chest that sits on its own metal stand that has paw feet The trunk can remove from stand as shown and be used separately The basic chest is constructed of wood that has been painted however the front and top are encased in sheets of embossed metal. Pictures of angels in a garden setting on each side of the top bands of studded strapping decorate the top of the piece. It has a removable inside shelf with two dividers( one divider is removable) It measures 36 1/4" long. 21 1/4" deep and 12 1/4" high. The removable shelf is 4" high. This is super clean as you can tell by the pics. It dose not have a key. It has two side latches that keep it closed up tight. I purchased this at the Cypress Swap meet over 10 years ago It is a unique chest from the early 1900s with colored Vulcanized Fiber and a decorative studded design. Primitive Wooden Trunk, Toolbox or Chest
Perfectly imperfect- it is full of primitive. Shabby character! I brought it home, cleaned(scrubbed) it, sanded it, painted it milk black, rubbed some of the edges and oiled it and then cleaned and painted the interior a fresh, crisp aqua. It has been tucked below the black cabinet(now seen resting on the floor) which had been supported by beefy candlesticks for legs. I have decided to part with this little beauty because of the new configuration(hey, I can only stack so high! It measures about 25 1/2" long(or wide) and is 15" front to back. It stands roughly 9"10" high(slightly higher if you include the handle on top) The hinges and hardware(including the chunky, utilitarian handle) are original to the piece(as far as I can tell- I have not altered them) It also came with the chain inside to keep the lid from falling ... morebackwards when opened(and I have left that in place as well) This provides WONDERFUL storage books(we kept photos, photo albums, dictionaries, etcetera tucked out-of-sight in it) blankets, toys, etcetera. It's not so horribly deep that things are buried at the bottom never to be seen again! I did adhere fuzzy, felt feet to the bottom to protect the hardwood floor.

Somewhere all the road someone lined it with old wall paper. That paper is also old as there are areas where it is coming off and very worn. I acquired this flat top antique trunk at an auction. I have not tried to clean it as I do not want to ruin the integrity of the trunk. It is made of wood and covered with canvas with metal straps. The left leather handle is broken and the right one is intact. However they are extremely fragile so I would suggest that they not be used to pick up the trunk. There are pieces on the front with the buckle. There is a small hole in the top of the trunk. Please look closely at the pictures as they are part of the description.
