A 1934 dated United States Geological Survey Topo map of the COTTONDALE ALABAMA QUADRANGLE. From the William F. Franke. Sr. estate, these are all linen backed folding maps that measure 16 by 20 inches. Mr. Franke was a real estate developer in Birmingham, AL during the 1920's, 30's, and 40's and these maps were part of his personal collection. Note that these are rugged work maps intended to be used in the field. Many of them have stains or wear along the edge but the map and linen backing is intact. Guaranteed ORIGINAL ANTIQUE map.

This is a set of 41 topo maps(40 different maps- one duplicate) covering much of northern California backpacking country and a few extras. All were bought in the 1970s and were folded for storage and field use. Some were used for backpacking and show light wear as indicated in the photograph. Most look like they have probably never been opened back up after the original folding. The maps in the photograph were simply the top maps in the stack. Let me know if you want a photograph of a specific map and I will gladly provide it. The condition shown is typical for the complete set. As shown in the photograph. Some have rolled/creased edges and some show use and yellowing but all are quite usable. None are about to fall apart from repeated folding/unfolding. It is in surprisingly good condition. Current towns shown are Riddle, Canyonville, Wolf Creek and Merlin. This historical map shows Schools, ranches, mines, railroads in addition to prominent geographical features such as Cow creek and the south Umpqua River. This area of southern Oregon was and still is a hot bed of mining activity. Since this was produced before roads(pavement) they aren't named. T he back of the map has a discription of topographic symbols used on USGS maps. The map will be mailed in a USPS tube box with Priority assurances.

This mysterious region is the site of more‘transient lunar phenomena’ than any other on the Moon. Transient lunar phenomena are temporary obscurations, explosions, or color changes on the surface. Selenologists say this was either a coincidental diffusion of gas to the surface, or a discrete explosion. An explosion leaves those with a taste in science fiction(which so often becomes science fact) to wonder: was something under the surface of the Moon attempting to communicate? Or destroy? Fittingly, this map's rich, veiny colors suggest a fleshy, alien landscape. The crater was so named by the Italian map maker Giovanni Riccioli in his 1651, The New Algamest, in which he named craters after famous astronomers and philosophers. Shown are tunnels, tailings and prospects alog with mines named and unnamed. This area of southern Oregon was and still is a hot bed of mining activity. This area of southern Oregon was and still is a hot bed of mining activity. Since this was produced before pavement, the roads aren't named or numbered.
