The New York Avenue Presbyterian Church still sits at the corner of New York Avenue and H Street(Area 251) and the Church of the Epiphany is still located on G Street(Area 252) The New National Theatre in Area 254 is where today's National Theatre still stands. The historic Willard Hotel can still be found at 1401 Pennsylvania Avenue(Area 225) This map measures approximately 28 1/2 x 22 1/2 inches. Including the border area. Property specific detail. Map is in color. VERY RARE. This map is from the Real Estate Plat-Book of Washington. District of Columbia. Vol. 1. Comprising the entire North-West Section from the Original Plats of Squares& Subdivisions and Additions upon record in the office of the Surveyor of the City of Washington" Constructed under the direction of and published in 1892 by Griffith M. Hopkins, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Maps this early and showing this much detail of Washington D.C. are VERY SCARCE. The map has fantastic coloring to it. Lots of color coding to represent various attributes(white/stone building. Pink/brick building, yellow/frame building, if it looks like an envelope/a stable or shed, and black& white dotted/green house etc. Map in generally good condition(not perfect but pretty nice condition) Some browning and small chips or creases at edges. Map is blank on the reverse side. There is a crease up the middle where it was originally bound. The map has some small tears and chips around the edges. Violin - Lafayette - Excellent little violin with soft case
Up for auction is a beautiful little Lafayette Violin. I purchased this Violin used with the intent to learn how to play. But never did. Violin is in Excellent condition but needs one new string. Beautiful wood and look. I think this is a small size but not sure. Measures 24" from top to bottom and about 8.5" at the widest point. Inside the Violin is a paper label that says"Lafayette" Bow is included and needs new string. I know NOTHING about Violins, so please ask any questions you may have. Violin comes in a soft case that is dark green in color on the ouside and light cream color inside. Case is in used condition including some stitching coming apart on the ouside corner. This is a 1950s Kay. USA made, archtop guitar project. This has a very rare Lafayette set of pickups and pickguard on it. These are top mount, attached at the pickguard- meaning the whole assembly can easily be removed by taking off the pickguard. After much research it seems this was a very rare'model' of guitar they did using similar archtops, though not always the exact same make. There are less than 10 of these documented, and most made with 60's archtop guitars. This 50's F35 Model has great purfling and binding around the edges. Both pickups work, and interestingly the output jack is 3.5mm. Pots are a little scratchy. Body and neck have various issues as most can be seen. to be playable it will at least need a neck reset. This book is titled Extracts from MASS General Hospital 1810-1851. The book is a record of sorts of all the various meetings. Proposals, patients, etc. that occurred during this time period. There are a few references to the Civil War, including mention of a"wooden leg fund" to help wounded soldiers. Among other things, there are mentions for the need of a"Lunatic" or"Insane" asylum in the Boston area. There are many names and references. General Lafayette is mentioned as having visited with his son. Also mentioned are Col Thomas Perkins, Captain Nathaniel Fletcher, and Gen. Appleton. There is a gift inscription on one of the early interior pages: To Gen. F.H. Appleton with the compliments of Francis Blake, 12 December 1902. As noted above, the pages are loose, most unattached from the spine. The pages are somewhat ... morebrittle on the edges, but are cream to off-white in color with dark, highly legible text. The LOW lighting conditions when I took the pictures give them the yellow tint. The pages are not yellow in person. Also, you can see the shadows from the camera on the pages; the dark areas are not stains. Vintage Eb Wood & Metal Clarinet, Lafayette by Couesnon, & Buescher
Up for auction are a lot of 2(two) vintage clarinets. The Eb is a wooden Lafayette beginner built by Couesnon. It was built to be a beginner back in the day. But is likely as good as an intermediate today. However, it is not the Boehm system.whatever that means. I am a trumpet guy, not a woodwind guy. The case is a faux gator skin thing, but may not be original. The mouthpiece seems to be original. Needs repadded. No splits or cracks. Hard to come by these old Ebs. Would serve as a wall hanger or a player if wished. The metal clarinet is unmarked.but with a 5 digit serial number. At 34,xxx, it is likely made by Beuscher or Conn, not positive though. It is a Bb horn, and in pretty good dent free shape. I think it is nickel or nickel plated. Has the original mouthpiece and case, although the case is rough on the outside and not too swell on ... morethe inside. Neither cases are stinky though. These horns were acquired in the buyout of an estate by a fairly reknowned trumpeter back in the 30's-60's. I will only reveal his name to the winner. NO reserve. This purchase came straight out of an estate auction. It is a Couesnon Trumpet marked Lafayette and made in Paris France. It appears to have original mouth piece as it is marked Couesnon. As you can see the finish will need work. The valves work fine and the pieces that remove to clean it come of easy. I lubricated the valves and checked the removealbe parts. It will play as my musician daughter played it for me. It does have assorted dings and the bell is slightly bent. This is a no reserve auction so you bid you buy. It comes with a vintage hardcase. You are bidding on a original 1857 Lafayette. Ohio coverlet by John Hartman. The coverlet is in terrific shape for it's age with only showing a couple minor problems. At the top there is a little tearing in the coverlet. And there are a few small splotches in the design. In the daylight I noticed a couple very faint and small stains in the coverlet. ITEM DESCRIPTION: This auction is for a historic blue-and-white transfer-printed Staffordshire plate made in Burslem. England at the celebrated pottery of Enoch Wood& Sons(1819– 1846) Part of a well-known series featuring shell-decorated borders, this plate is centered by an artist’s rendering of the ship“Cadmus, which famously brought the Marquis de Lafayette to America for his triumphal 1824-1825 return visit. A truly momentous event, Lafayette’s tour of the fledgling country was widely anticipated and wildly popular among the American people. Enterprising craftsmen, particularly in England, seized on this enthusiasm by producing an array of goods– ceramics, glass, textiles& etc. that not only depicted Lafayette’s likeness, but also memorialized the places he went and the various means of transportation he used, such as the“Cadmus. ... morePatriotic Americans gobbled up these largely imported mementos and cherished them enough to pass down through the ages. Measuring 10 inches in diameter, the offered plate is an original that dates to about the time of Lafayette’s visit. As expected, the glaze has a bluish tint and there are kiln“spider” marks visible on bothsides. Furthermore, the back(or bottom) is impressed with a factory stamp centering an eagle-and-shield devise surrounded by the words“E. WOOD&SONS BURSLEM/SEMI CHINA/WARRANTED. Item Description* This listing is for an Authentic 1857 LAFAYETTE S. FOSTER Hand Signed Personal Check! Lafayette Sabine Foster(November 22. 1806– September 19, 1880) was a nineteenth-century American politician and lawyer from Connecticut. He served in the United States Senate from 1855 to 1867 and was a judge in the Connecticut Supreme Court from 1870 to 1876. Foster was editor of the Republican. A Whig newspaper out of Connecticut, and served in the Connecticut House of Representatives from 1839 to 1840, 1846 to 1848 and 1854, serving as Speaker of the House for three years. He was the Whig nominee for Governor of Connecticut in 1850 and 1851, but lost both elections. He served as mayor of Norwich, Connecticut, from 1851 to 1852 before being elected as an Oppositionist to the United States Senate in 1854, and reelected in 1860 as a Republican, ... moreserving from 1855 to 1867. There, he served as chairman of the Committee on Pensions from 1861 to 1867. His wife, Joanna Boylston Lanman, died on April 11, 1859. Foster was elected President pro tempore of the Senate at the beginning of the 39th Congress in 1865. And held that title until the end of his term in 1867. Six weeks after he was elected, President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth. Two of Booth's accomplices also intended to assassinate Vice President Andrew Johnson as well as Secretary of State William H. Seward. Seward's assassin, Lewis Powell, struck but failed to kill, whereas Johnson's assassin, George Atzerodt, never acted. If Atzerodt had assassinated Johnson, Foster would have been Lincoln's successor as President of the United States. Antique Lafayette DeWitt Clinton GI-81 Historical Flask Half Pint Olive VGC
This is an antique Lafayette DeWitt Clinton GI- 81 historical flask. It is olive I believe in color and it is a half pint size. It has corrugated ribbed sides.The bottle measures 6 1/2" high.One side pictures the bust of Lafayette with his name overhead and the other side has a bust of Dewitt Clinton with his name above.Under the Lafayette bust are the letters S& C. Beneath the bust of Clinton it has the letters C-T. I believe this flask was made in Coventry. Conneticut. This great flask is in very good condition with no chips or cracks. There is some wear to the high points on the sides but it is minimal. Nice pontil on the bottom. A very very nice example. High bid pays postage.

Cool looking PA Head that would make a Great Guitar Amp I was going to make an AC-30 type amp with it. I'm thinning out my colllections of project due to age and time. It is in good condition with some wear and tear. It has 4 Sylvania, 6BQ5/EL84 power tubes, and 3 Preamp tubes. It uses a 5AR4 rectifier whih is missing. All other tubes included. It will need the electrolytics to be replaced the on the amp. A RARE. Well I looked all over the internet to try and find another bedpan that looks like this one. with no success. therefore I guess I can use the word RARE. A Metal Enamel Granite Ware Bedpan with a lid that covers both the center hole and the urenal.in overall very good condition but there are some chips to the blue highlighted edging and there some spots of oxidation. West Lafayette Ohio is the next town down the road where the Jones Metal Co is located and they were the makers of most of the bedpans ect that you see listed on ebay. based on the differances of this one and the others I am"Guessing that this was a Salesman Sample or Prototype that most likely never went into production" Now there is no way I can prove that. I have no idea if there are people out there who collect bedpans. If there are please let me know.
