8 Vintage Topo Maps of Sectors of Quebec Canada Dept. of Mines Topographical
800x600 Up for auction is a unique set of topographical maps of Quebec broken into eight sectors: Buckingham. Cabonga Reservoir, Grand Lake Victoria South, Maniwaki, Mont-Laurier, Ste-Agathe, Tomasine, and Vimy. These maps were produced by various parts of the Department of Mines. Each map measures about 24 by 30 inches. The scale is indicated as 2 miles to the inch. There is no specific date given but the magnetic declination is shown on one map for 1940. My wife’s dad used them on fishing trips to Quebec back in the mid-1900s. They are in pretty good shape. The paper has yellowed a little, and the edges are frayed and torn. However, the actual maps are generally clean and not damaged, most damage isolated to the margins. A little writing on some maps. Massive Baltimore Atlas 1915. Topographical Survey Comm. 35 Maps. Each 33 x 43
Up for sale is a phenomenal 1915 Atlas of Baltimore published by The Topographical Survey Commission of Baltimore City. This large atlas has 35 maps/plates. One is of the city as a whole and then 34 detailed maps that divide the city down to the individual property/ structure level. Structures are color coded based on the material they are made from. A massive atlas. All maps were linen backed and remain in generally nice shape. Maps are two sheets taken together and measure approximately 33 x 43 inches. When shut the folio atlas measures approximately 34 x 22.5 inches. A very tough to find atlas printed in a small number. Most are in museums or libraries or have been taken apart to sell the individual maps contained within. A Hoen did the lithographs. Overall this atlas and the maps are in nice shape. The boards have issues with wear and ... morescuffing and. While still connected, are fairly loose. Spine is gone. Interior maps are all linen backed which has helped preserve them and the pages they were printed on. There is some light browning and wear, a few light discolorations and dings but, overall, maps remain in nice shape. The largest issue is a stain in lower right at the end that impacts the last 4 or 5 maps. It is on the boarder area and does not impact any of the maps themselves. I took a picture of the worst of the stain which is darkest at the end and then lightens for the pages it impacts until disappearing. Not a terrible stain but it is present. Also first and last pages(title pages and end pages) have more heavy wear but, again, maps are not impacted. The thumb tags are generally present but a few missing. They have wear. Overall a nice copy of this rare piece. Not perfect but certainly in collectible condition. Again, just a massive piece with great color. Exceptionally rare. Photos etc. It is made by a company called Toko, no Idea if it is Japanese or US or? the box is really nice tongue and groove made of Mahogany I think. has a Canadian Government sticker inside(see photo) there is a slight dent on the left side but it does not effect the unit and is hardly noticeable. This massive atlas is about 25 by 33 inches. The atlas is incomplete with three double page and one half of a two page map missing. Cover is green morocco with gold color inlay. The thick cover is well worn at the corners and along the spine. Some bends and scuffing to the green portion too. Back cover damaged with scrapes. Tears and damage to the green covering. Inside front cover has a small book sellers label(Brooklyn) Front flyleaves missing. Title page dirty, especially around the edges and short tears to all edges. Pencil notation on the back of the title page. Table of maps page not as dirty with small tear to the bottom and top edges and pencil notation on the upper left corner. ... moreAll maps are on thick paper and are blank on the reverse. These are very cool vintage maps, and are quite large, measuring 27"x22" The three quadrant maps are in very nice condition, with some light wear and a few small stains.
