The maps are as follow: Yellowstone National Park. Wyoming- in a white wood frame, inside measurements are 10" by 7 1/4" outside is 8 1/8" by 11 1/8" Paper backing and wire for hanging. Grand Teton National Park. Wyoming- In a white wood frame, measurements are the same as the Yellowstone map. Paper backing and wire for hanging. Mesa Verde National Park. Colorado- In a white metal frame, measurements are 8 5/8" by 9 5/8" outside is 10 3/4" by 9 3/4" No paper backing so the backside of the map is showing which has information about the Park as well as a key ... moreand some data. There is wire for hanging. The maps are all in excellent condition. With the frames having a few nicks and the metal frame has a small dent. Most were printed between 1964-1969. There has been some detailing and markings on some of the maps. Very few tears. The maps measure about 24” x 30” They are creased. They are in color. Lakes. Rivers, elevation, roads, towns, etc. are shown. They have been used on many fishing and hunting adventures in this area of northern Ontario. This is a 137-page book which had these 3 maps inserted in a pocket inside the back cover- as issued. I currently also have that book listed separately. Lot of four topographical maps, Vermont
I ams elling this lot of four maps. Published by the Us Dept. of Interior, Geological survey. They measure 17" by 21" but one is slightly smaller. They cover the following areas, Wilmington sheet, Bennington quadrangle, Equinox sheet, and Londonderry sheet. Two are in relatively good condition, one has a tear in the margin, and one has been folded at some point. They are all suitable for framing however, and are a valuable historic reference. It measures approx 10½ by 8 inches and I believe is of the same era(1961) as they were together when I purchased them. I am not a collector or dealer. This is a bin full of old maps I came across and I am sure they are more valuable sold separately but I do not have the time or desire to do this. No room to take photos of all of them. But all are large, rolled and some are in'sets' of 3 or 4 that go together. They were stored poorly but I am sure someone would like them as they are. The edges are rough. Some tears, some staining. Some are much nicer than others. Most have the name L. Chase written on the backs. Many are the upper east coast Atlantic Ocean water ways. Maine. Martha's Vineyard, etc. I have seen dates in the 40's. 60's, 70's. Most are government issue, I saw Coast Guard and Army Corps of Engineers, some are National Geographic. 1846 Lewis Atlas Ireland Maps Antique Old Book Topographical Dictionary Dublin
3 large volumes. All published in London by Samuel Lewis, and dated 1846. The Dictionaries state that this is a 2nd Edition, and it does appear that they were first issued in1838(including the Atlas) The Dictionaries are very large books. Vol 1 696 pages, and vol 2 684, with much detail of each place listed. The Atlas is a much slimmer volume, consisting of an attractive Title Page, Contents and Explanations, a large(55cms x 42.5cms) folding map of the entire Country, and 31 County maps, each on a single page, and all beautifully handcoloured in outline. It is the Atlas that is the jewel in this set, a very attractive early Victorian publication. The 2 Dictionaries measure 33.5cms x 26.5cms. The Atlas is much the same size. Condition: There are 3 volumes. The covers and spines of all of them are poor. Vol 2 of the Dictionaries lacking a spine ... morealmost completely. The boards are attached, but not firmly at the back. Please see details visible in my photos. However, inside the books things improve a good deal. They are all clean, and holding together well. All have an old bookplate on the front endpaper"W Sprent" There is a little foxing in the Atlas, but mainly visible on the backs, and it really is very little. The original outline handcolouring is lovely and bright, and the large folding map is in good condition. So once opened, an excellent set! As mentioned these are big and heavy volumes. Within most of the UK it will be free. Using a courier service(for which I will need a phone number of the buyer) To send the entire set to N Ireland will be £12.00, and to the Republic of Ireland, £20.00. I can send the Atlas on its own should the Dictionaries not be required for £8.00 to N Ireland, and £14.00 to the Republic. Jersey Shore, Woolrich, Pine Creek, Bald Eagle Mountain, Big Mountain, Trout Run, Salladasburg, Trout Run, Milton, Watsontown, Muncy, White Deer, Williamsport, Waterville, English Center, Brookside and Lycoming, Clinton, Union, Northumberland Counties on the West Branch of the Susquehanna River. Maps date to 1964 and 1965. One map has the bottom trimmed. This is a lot of approximately 180 Canadian Ministry of Natural Resources Topographical maps. The maps are mostly 1:50.000 scale and are printed on a variety of materials including regular paper, Tyvek and waterproof full-synthetic. The vast majority are new. Even the used ones are in excellent condition. there are multiple duplicates of some maps. The specific maps are too numerous to list. I've taken pictures of a wide selection, please inspect them carefully to get a good idea of what's included. These maps retailed for between $12 and $18. Petroleum had no commercial importance howeve r until the Penn Rock Oil co. organized in 1858. With Professor Stillman as President-succeeded in producing about 8 barrels per day from an Artesian well on a farm near Titusville, from which oil was lst obtained on the 28 th of August 1859 at a depth of 69 ½ feet. It is about `7 ½” by 13 ½” in size. Brown cloth covers are completely separated from the interior. Extensive wear–boards exposed on corners and along all edges-much more exposed than not. Interior pages are also loose though book still complete. Endpapers. Title page and many interior pages are notched and nicked along the edges. Rough bits. These are a very interesting set of 3-dimension 3D topographical maps. All copyrighted in the late 1960s, of the states that comprise the four-corners region of the United States. The have varying copyright and revision dates on them and are made by different map companies. A couple of the maps are coming unattached from their frames, but are easily re-stapled. I leave this to buyer. Arizona: dimensions: o map area: § height: 18 3/8” § width: 14 ¾” o at outside of frame: § height: 21 ¾’ § width: 17 ¾” so this one I am a little unsure. the lower-right corner says copyright 1957 by Jeppesen& Co. Denver Colorado, Revised 2-64. But then under the main map title, it says“1 st edition. 1968” I leave it to the buyer to discern these specifics of the map. there is a hand-written mileage scale in the legend area ... moreof the map… looks like it was put there to help the user estimate by hand distances. Specifically on this Arizona map. There are also hand-applied black lines and dots to the map(easily removal, should you want to) placed there, I imagine, by a previous owner, I don’t know the significance of those lines or dots(that are not native to the map) Colorado: dimensions o map area: § height: 141/2” § width: 19 ¾” o at outside of frame: § height: 17 ½” § width: 22 ½” similar to the Arizona map. The Colorado map has multiple informational items about its intellectual property. The Colorado map is copyright 1950 by Jeppesen& Co of Denver, Colorado and revised 1967, 5 th edition” the lower left corner of the map states“Produced by Kristler Graphics. Denver Colorado” Colorado map has come completely detached from frame(in my attempt to get at the copyright information hidden under the frame) and needs to be restapled to it) I removed the frame(which was completely loose anyway) so you can zoom in on the legend and copyright information. In the case of this single map. That information is otherwise obscured by the frame when the frame is attached. N
