Here on offer is a great vintage‘Ordnance Survey Map. Torquay' dating to 1946. The map has been based produced by the Ordnance Survey and has been printed on good quality heavy paper. It is folded into a cover that has the crest for the Ordnance Survey and details of the map. With Great Britain on the back and some further information on the inner cover. The map covers an area surrounding Torquay. It is from the sixth series produced by the Ordnance Survey and is map number 188. The map is offered in good vintage condition. When folded it measures about 21cm by 12.5cm, when opened the map is 81cm by 70cm and weighs 67g. A great collectable map. Please see my pictures for the details of the condition. Vintage Antique 1853 U.S. Coast Survey Map City of San Francisco& Vicinity. Measures 27 1/2" x 20" We have been told this is a reprint of original. There are no markings that we see that indicate its a reprint. When magnified the paper has a rough texture not smooth. The ink is solid not dotted. There is some staining and or discoloration along the center fold towards the middle upper center. In the same area there is also a spot that appears to have been wet it is about an inch wide.

Light blue ink stain near bottom right edge. Previous owner drew in boundaries of 5 mining claims on map and noted the names to left of map(these can be seen in photo) Overall the print and color are clean and bright. As it retains the coat of arms of King George VI, but advertises a book on the National Grid published in 1951. Map is in fair condition for something of this nature that is over 60 years old. Most of the time any edge splits are short. Minor, insignificant and have been closed- either long ago or more recently with small pieces of archival tape. Most often these splits are trivial and easy to overlook visually. Basically, they would not significantly affect the piece adversely. The item is offered as seen. Doc. No. 26. A facsimile copy of the Index Page is included. The maps are well documented in the title block area stating it as a US. Coast Survey and dated 1851 on the map. It is uncolored as originally issued. The map is not matted, mounted or framed, being sold as shown in the main pic. Size: The map image measures approximately 12 1/4 by 13 1/4 inches on a 13 1/2 by 15 1/4" page and a margin all around for framing. Condition: The map is in Good condition ... morefor a folding map with overall tonal aging. Blank on the reverse with a vertical and horizontal fold as issued. It is basically as seen in the pic. There is a small tear at the intersection of the fold as usual, although the paper is in very good shape, not brittle nor splitting, binding tab is still attached on the upper left, there is some upper edge wear, cockling in the lower left, and some light browning on the map, which is accentuated in the pic, actual map is more even in tone. Overall, the map is very clean and would frame up nicely, see the pics for more on condition. The pics are of the actual map being sold.
