For sale is a vintage 1980 12 inch Rand McNally raised relief political map globe with atlas book. The color on the globe is bright. All of this is in the original box. The globe and book are in excellent condition showing little wear. I don't think they were ever used very much if at all. The base of the globe is metal and it is in excellent condition without any dents or rust. This is an excellent vintage globe and atlas that would be hard to find in this excellent condition. Circa e1900's RAND McNALLY& COMPANY GLOBE with STAND- 12" TERRESTRIAL SPHERE GLOBE on BRONZED CAST IRON BASE with TALON HOLDING BALL FEET- JUST AT ABOUT 22" HIGH and 13 1/2" WIDE(Frame to Frame) HOLDING A 12" GLOBE. THE IMPORTANT PARTS(Frame and Globe) ARE REALLY NICE and NOTE THE MONO(RMC) on FRONT CENTER MIDDLE AND HOW ORNATE THE FRAME IS WITH ORIGINAL FINISH AND PATINA to the faux BRONZE OVER HEAVY CAST IRON. Please note there is one small disoloration in the lower Pacific Ocean section of this piece. Who knows, perhaps a foreteller of the huge garbage mass currently floating in the Pacific. I believe this globe to have been manufactured c. 1930. After 1928 and before 1935. The following points seem to support this, and an expert can perhaps make a more definitive determination: Persia. The Goode globes did not see mass production numbers as did the more common Rand McNally ones, and, consequently, they are not seen as frequently. Goode was born in 1862 and died in 1932. Matted or framed and is being sold as a single sheet as shown in the first picture. Size: Map measures approximately 14 1/8 by 11 1/8 inches(35.8 x 28.2 cm) as seen in the pictures. Condition: This map is in good to very good condition. Some soiling evident along edges. Light foxing as seen in the pics. Small tears along edges. It is basically as seen in the pics.
