Hamm, published in Philadelphia by Carey& Lea, circa 1831. This is a copper engraving, outline hand colored. It measures 10 3/8" in height. x8 3/4" in width. This is a historic map of the area surrounding the northern part of the Adriatic Sea. It shows places such as Austria, parts of Switzerland and Bavaria, Slovania, Croatia, and Bosnia Herzegovina. It shows the Greek names of the cities as well as the rivers and mountain ranges. A historic note from the internet: In ancient geography. Vindelicia is a country bounded on the south by Raetia, on the north by the Danube and the Hadrian's Limes Germanicus, on the east by the Oenus(Inn) on the west by the territory of the Helvetii. It thus corresponded to the northeast portion of Switzerland, the southeast of Baden, and the south of Württemberg and Bavaria. Its chief town was Augusta Vindelicorum(Augsburg) Its inhabitants, the Vindelici were probably Celtic(Gaulish) or Germanic, and a possible etymology of their name includes an element vind-cognate to Irish find- white" compare Ginevra) Together with the neighboring tribes they were subjugated by Tiberius in 15 BC. The Augustean inscription of 12 BC mentions four tribes of the Vindelici among the defeated. Condition: The map has light browning and a crease in the middle where it was part of a book. Other than that the map is in excellent condition with no tears or repairs and vivid colors. Please note that since the map was folded in a book. A faint imprint of each side is apparent on the opposite side. The map is not matted, however, it comes in a transparent plastic cover with cardboard to give it a strong backing. Up for sale are these Newspapers from the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. The first newspaper is The Philadelphia Inquirer. It is the funeral& coffin issue dated April 20th. 1865. It is printed on RAG paper. I believe that this newspaper is original from April 20th. 1865 Please look at the first 6 photos closely. The newspaper has several issues. Separating. Tearing etc. The top and bottom half of the paper are still intact. But barely. They are still connected by just a few inches on the right side. The second newspaper is The New York Herald. This is the first assassination issue dated April 15th. 1865. I believe that this is a reproduction. But I am not 100% sure. It does NOT appear to be printed on rag paper. I know that there were reproductions of this paper printed in the very early 1900's. And I believe this is one of those ... morecopies, so it is still around 100 years old. Dummy Wooden Training Rifle with a blaze orange plug permanently attached to its non-barrel. FOR US DOMESTIC SALE ONLY In the past years I have sold many P-D, and Kadet Trainers. Three of them to one buyer. And two to another! so you can be comfortable with this offering. This is not a child's toy; rather a full sized replica of the 1903 US Springfield Rifle A WW1 US Government contracted piece manufactured circa 1917 for the US military and civillian users by the U.S. TRAINING RIFLE COMPANY. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As marked on the receiver, correctly there are no markings on the butt plate. It is as I found it at a collectors' show ... morein Louisville, Kentucky, with the brass hardware leather sling. They were produced for the training of WW1 era personnel as there were not enough of the real rifles to issue to each individual while preparing for war in Europe or defending the U.S. from attack. These rifles were almost exact replicas of the standard'03 Springfield Rifles as in weight and appearance, at 8.5 pounds. And 43-1/2 inches. Approximately 10.000 were made. This is a very nice, minty piece, this one is the best of the three I currently have. The flip sight with sliding range adjustment(same as used by Parris-Dunn from 1943 onward) is intact. The bolt cycles and cocks the mechanism for a single shot when the trigger is pulled, but there is no open chamber. The sling, though old, is pliable and vibrant. The dark walnut stock is virtually flawless with no cracks, nor splits/repairs, but some handling marks on the front lower fore stock. There is no rust present on the blued metal hardware, missing only the front stacking swivel. No personal nor unit markings markings. It is over 90 years old. And they just don't make'em no more. Morgan, an English engraver who conceived both sides of the coin. On the obverse is featured a bust of Lady Liberty, complete with Morgan’s monogram near her neck. The reverse of the coin shows the Great Seal of the United States. The coin was issued by the U.S. mint in direct response to the Comstock Lode silver strike on the eastern slope of Mount Davidson in what is now known as Virginia City, Nevada. The finding was made public in 1859, and grew tremendous attention from soon-to-be prospectors all around the country, ... moreas this was the major U.S. discovery of silver and gold ore.
