Up for sale is a LARGE. Authentic, antique map of a small set of blocks in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This map has property specific detail of the area ... morebetween Germantown Avenue and Morton Street and Magnolia Avenue and between Haines Street and Mayland Street. This 1899 map is Plate 2 from the Atlas of The City Of Philadelphia- 22nd Ward- From Actual Surveys and Official Plans by George W. and Walter S. Bromley. Civil Engineers. Published in 1899 by G. W. Bromley and Co. Philadelphia. This map measures approximately 30 1/2 x 20 1/2 inches. Including the border area. The map has fantastic coloring to it and is a great period street map. Listing factories, churches, public schools, property owners, railroads, etc. of the time. Excellent, detailed and interesting period map of the City of Philadelphia. It is blank on the reverse side and it is not matted nor framed. Being sold as a single sheet as shown in the main picture. Maps this early and showing this much detail of the streets of Philadelphia are VERY SCARCE. The map has lots of color coding to represent various attributes(white/stone building. Pink/brick building, yellow/frame building, if it looks like an envelope/a stable or shed, and black& white dotted/green house etc. It shows fire hydrants, water mains, sewage lines, lot dimensions and house numbers. The map is generally in Very Good condition. There is some wear and browning along the edges. There is a crease down the middle where it was originally bound. There are creases in the corners. Other dings here and there. As well. This map is a great piece of Pennsylvania history and it will look very nice when framed. Please note that while I have included pictures of the front board of the Atlas. The Title Page and the Explanations page from the Atlas this map was taken from, they are NOT included in the sale, as they are reference pieces to determine authenticity for the other maps. I would be happy to include a copy if requested. Please see my store for other great items. Inventory R-27,Rcm

The coin imaged here is the one you will get. FREE MAILING on this lot! THE MORGAN DOLLAR The coin is named after its designer. George T. Morgan, an English engraver who conceived both sides of the coin. On the obverse is featured a bust of Lady Liberty, complete with Morgan’s monogram near her neck. The reverse of the coin shows the Great Seal of the United States. The coin was issued by the U.S. mint in direct response to the Comstock Lode silver strike on the eastern slope of Mount Davidson in what is now known as Virginia City, Nevada. The finding was made public in 1859, and grew tremendous attention from soon-to-be prospectors ... moreall around the country, as this was the major U.S. discovery of silver and gold ore. Because so much silver entered the market. Silver prices began to decline. In order to combat this downward movement, congress passed the Bland-Allison Act which required the Treasury Department to purchase silver, strike it as coins. The Morgan Dollar was the direct result of this mandate, and served as the only silver dollar struck between the cessation of production of the Seated Liberty Dollar in 1873& 1904 when the Morgan Dollar was discontinued due to low silver reserves. GAR 1899 Encampment, Philadelphia- DINNER MENU- held at Boothbys
GRAND ARMY OF THE REPUBLIC 33rd Encampment Fancy Dinner 1899 ~ITEM DESCRIPTION~ The GAR- Grand Army of the Republic- Union Army veterans of the Civil War. Held their 33rd annual encampment in Philadelphia on September 6-7, 1899. At that time they had 288.000 members. Now there are none. One of the treats was the gala dinner held for them at"Boothbys" I found there was a Boothbys Hotel and restaurant in Philadelphia in the late 1890s. I presume this was where the dinner was held- the name is mentioned on the menu. But no further information. This must have been a very select crowd- not many restaurants could serve tens of thousands of people. The menu sounds very fancy. Several wines were served. There was soup, sauteed chicken, braised sirloin, Philadelphia squab(keep those pesky pigeons out of the park) peas, salad, with Neapolitan ... moreice cream, black coffee and cigars for desert. The back of the menu is decorated with several signatures and some rather amateur or childish drawings of a patriotic bird with ribbon in his mouth(maybe one of the squabs) A dog's head, stars, other squiggles, and by one of the signatures"Oakland Poultry Yards, Trenton, N.J. Was this one of the grandkids playing around? Email with any questions or if you need more details. A fellow eBayer asked the size of the menu- it is 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" ~CONDITION~ Fine. The menu card had a cardboard stand the folded out from the back. A little flabby right now. The card is colorful, and probably rarely seen. A great Civil War collectible that displays well. ~PAYMENT. SHIPPING, PACKING MATERIALS~ As you probably know. The wise rulers of eBay have recently decreed that payment via their own company, PayPal, must be made available for ALL items sold on eBay. PayPal will be happy to accept your credit cards and echecks. I am not allowed to list other acceptable methods of payment, but recent info on the eBay site says that if a buyer emails me wanting to pay using a method other than PayPal, and that method is acceptable to me)

ORIGINAL Revolutionary War NEWSPAPER, the Freeman's Journal(Phadelphia. PA) dated May 29, 1782. This newspaper has lots of Revolutionary War news including a long inside page report of a naval battle in the Caribbean between the French and British naval fleets- the BATTLE of the SAINTES. There are also 2 ads offering a NEGRO WENCH for sale as a slave. There are also 2 ads paced by TENCH COXE. A delegate from Pennsylvania to the Continental Congress. This newspaper contains National and International news as well as LOCAL Philadelkphia. PA news and ads from 230 years ago. The Battle of the Saintes(known to the French as ... morethe Bataille de la Dominique. Or Battle of Dominica) took place over 4 days, 9 April 1782– 12 April 1782, during the American War of Independence. And was a victory of a British fleet under Admiral Sir George Rodney over a French fleet under the Comte de Grasse forcing the French and Spanish to abandon a planned invasion of Jamaica. The battle is named after the Saintes(or Saints) A group of islands between Guadeloupe and Dominica in the West Indies. The French fleet defeated here by the Royal Navy was the same French fleet that had blockaded the British Army during the Siege of Yorktown. The British are sometimes credited with pioneering the tactic of" breaking the line" in the battle; this is however erroneous as Dano–Norwegian admiral Niels Juel did this in the Battle of Køge Bay more than a hundred years earlier. Tench Coxe(May 22. 1755– July 17, 1824) was an American political economist and a delegate for Pennsylvania to the Continental Congress in 1788-1789. He wrote under the pseudonym"A Pennsylvanian" Coxe was born in Philadelphia. Pennsylvania on May 22. 1755. His mother was a daughter of Tench Francis. Sr. His father came of a family well know
