Showing Oregon Territory extending still up into British North America. Missouri Territory is huge, as is Arkansas Territory. Texas is named, but still part of Mexico. The only three locations within Texas which are named are St. Antonio, Nacogdoches& Galveston. The distance table is cleverly placed across most of the American southwest, reflecting a lack of topographical knowledge. Above it in large letters is seen"Unexplored Region" and indeed even along the West coast San Francisco is not named, but instead is called"Bay of Sir F. Drake" Great map displaying an assortment of transitional geographical features not often seen in this combination. The antique map was taken from Hammond’s Comprehensive Atlas of the World published in 1915. Great for family history as the map shows political boundaries. Countries, cities, towns, and landmarks of prior to 1915; some of which may no longer exist. Unframed so you can select a frame and matting that matches your décor. The total size of the two pages measures approximately 13 1/8” x 9 ¼” While the map itself, varies in size somewhat, but generally measures approximately 11” x 8 3/8” The map itself is dated somewhere in the ten-year period prior to publication of the atlas. Of the 62 map listings. 58 of them are made up of a two-page map that was center-bound in the atlas. This means that the maps are in two-parts. For ... moredisplay purposes they require that the un-illustrated portion near the center-binding be cut away from both pages. This will bring the two halves of the map into alignment. This would normally be from an 1852 Mitchell's Universal Atlas. The map is about 15.5 by 12.5 inches. The map is page 37 of the atlas. The map includes counties in California and two in New Mexico. Besides all the topography, trails, roads, towns the map also includes Indian tribe locations. The map is from 1852 based upon counties shown and not shown. This map has different hand wash coloring scheme from all the other 1852 atlas maps documented on-line with several of the California counties being different colors or miss colored and the green of Utah Territory and southern New Mexico being different. The map is in very good condition except ... morethe paper is brittle. There is browning around the map as can be seen in the photos. The back has many stains from the coloring of states on the next page. These stains do not affect the front of the map. There has been one breakage of the paper repaired with archival tape on the back. The split is visible on the front if you look close but does not show up in the close-up photo very well. The breakage runs near the Rio Grand from San Juan River to South Pass and then from near Browns Hole to head of Bunkara R. Seller will pay for insurance and tracking.

1845 Map of Bear Valley. Utah and Wyoming, in Fremont's 1845 report of his expeditions. The folding map sheet is about 9 by 19 inches. The map runs from near Muddy Fork to Bear Spring which is about 60 miles per the legend scale. Fremont's route is shown with dates in August along with Emigrant Road to the Lower Columbia(Oregon) Map in great shape on brownish paper with some foxing. Two panels on the back have imprint of text from the report and can be seen in the photo of the back. The front paper appears a little darker where the text is imprinted on the back. One or two small tears the the very edge of the fold line(s) Map will be shipped folded with Insurance and tracking paid by the seller. Questions welcome.

Ho. of Reprs. This 40 page report has been rebound in hard covers. This short report details the country surveyed by Fremont in the 1840s. The original large Map of Oregon and Upper California by Preuss is included and is in great shape. The map is about 33 by 26 inches. The map has some browning and foxing. There are no pin hole yet at the folds. There are no repairs to the map. There are some slight miss-folds. There are some slight tears along the top fold lines away from the map. The map is cut close to the neat line in the lower left corner. Photos of some miss-folds on front ... moreand back are pictured. See all the photos. More can be provided upon request. The rebound report is in great shape too with some slight browning and foxing. With an emphasis upon precision and accuracy, attempting to capture visually and cartographically the regions and battles depicted. The underlying premise of these Civil War maps was to depict the cartography as it specifically related to events of the Civil War. Thus, individual battles, small forts, troop movements, local rail lines, panoramic views, etc. are often rendered and explained with precision in a manner quite unique. Also, the very large format of the sheet allows for a level of detail which makes the map perfect for display or study by a Civil War buff, since the detail it contains is to be found almost no where else on this scale. Interesting map of Oregon. Map measures 10 X 13.5 inches. Printed on thin paper. Rail Roads are shown in red. But not named, so thus this is not a railroad map. See scan. The map is not dated. But they came out of a loose leaf binder that has a copyright date of 1919, see above scan of copyright date. Map will come carefully rolled in kraft paper and inside a strong pvc mailing tube.
