Nicely detailed map of Long Island was issued in 1891. By the Long Island Railroad. The map comes inside a embossed, cardboard sleeve, which measures 3.5x7-inches. When the sleeve is opened, the map can be unfolded accordion-style to measure approximately 13.25x26.5 inches. It was printed by The American Bank Note Company, of New York. The purpose of the map appears to have been to promote real estate investment on the then still underpopulated suburb of New York City. The map shows roads and rail lines of Long Island, and also pictures the southern coast of Connecticut. It touts the cheap rail fares, the ocean breezes, the charming marine views, the warmth in the winter, plus the superb sailing and fishing. The map is copyrighted 1984, by the Long Island railroad, but the cover states that it was issued in 1891. There is some wear and separation ... morealong the fold lines- especially the folds nearest the cardboard sleeve. There is also several areas of staining/ discoloration on various areas of the map- by far the worst of this discoloration occurs on the right side of the printed area, and extends into the right border section. We have pictured the front and back of the map, plus the sleeve/folder. The discoloration can probably be seen more clearly on image showing the reverse side of the map. The sleeve also has some spotting/soiling, plus wear along the spine and on the edges. However, none of the flaws are too distracting, and the map will still display very well. With a bit of restoration, many of the flaws could be improved- making the appearance even better. Overall, I would say the condition is about good+. Please email us if you need more information. This is for a New York Subway Systems and Elevated Lines Map from World War 2 for Military and Naval Personnel in New York during the War. It is sponsored by the New York Telephone and is a Hagstrom map. It promotes their telephone centers for service members and also points out some of their fine service areas. Some yellowing from age. Light wear, but very nice. Please see my detailed scans for most accurate condition report. I am willing to ship anywhere in the world. Map page from the 1892 Cram's Unrivaled Atlas of the World- M ap of Buffalo. New York page measures 11-1/4" X 14-1/2" The reverse side of the page is a Map of Dallas. Texas + + + There is some typical darkening from age and handling around the edges of the pages. But overall in good condition for a document that was printed 120 years ago! There are some water stains around the edges of the page(see pictures) All of my maps are originals. I do not destroy good books. But rescue pages from damaged and ruined atlases. Here is an original map of Newark NJ dated 1853 Population 48.000. It is printed on a piece of newsprint which actually opens up to measure approx. 10 3/8" by 17" with the map being on the page measuring 8 1/2" Along its bottom right border it reads: Publ. Sold by Chs. Magnus No. 22 North William St. N.Y. There's some very light toning around its edges and some wrinkles noticeable along the top portion but overall it's in very good condition and will look great when framed which I'll leave up to you. Recently picked this piece up at an auction. The publisher of the map appears to have been Weed. Parsons& Co of Albany, NY. The map's development was coordinated by William B. Taylor and S. H. Sweet whom were the State Engineer and Surveyor and Deputy Sate Engr and Surv respectively. Great detailing on map. Check out the blue border and then the eagle with the crest that is printed in all four corners. Found a similar map that was put out in that year. But had the State broken down into agricultural districts as well. On that one thought, the image of the train under the title area of the map was not in color like this one is. Offered here is a 1890 dated map of Middle States- DC. DE, MD, NJ, NY, PA. The actual map measures approximately 11.5 by 26 inches and they were removed from the Library Reference Atlas of the World by John Bartholomew. Both maps are in good condition though there is crease down the center where the map was bound into the book. The white streak in some of my photos is the reflection from my flash. Can't seem to get rid of it. I have had some of these maps professional framed and they look great. If you are not satisfied, I will refund your money less shipping. The town had one of the world's longest wooden single-span covered bridges(at 232 feet) The Old Blenheim Bridge. Which was built in 1855 and destroyed as a result of Hurricane Irene on August 28 th. 2011. The bridge is clearly identified on the eastern edge of the North Blenheim map.
