This is a wonderful find. It is an original old map to the 1939-1940 New York World's Fair. That was issued by the New Yorker magazine. It is in remarkably fine condition with no issues at all. There is a key at the bottom right which says, For the Convenience of Our Readers, The New Yorker's Map of the 1940 World's Fair, Together with an Index to its Chief attractions, Revised for the Issue of June 15, 1940. 1873 map of Richmond Hill. NY Queens. New York City This map is from the Beers 1873 atlas. It shows the part of Richmond Hill which includes Forest Park. The legend tells us that this area has been"laid out expressly for private residences. And restricted against all nuisances" Richmond Hill was originally a planned community. Envisioned by Albon P. Man. During the 1860s, Man bought up several farms to acquire the land that would become Richmond Hill. This map shows the landowners before development started. Man's Farm Cottage is also shown on the map. You can also see the East New York& Jamaica Horse Railroad- which became part of the Long Island RR system. The map measures 15.5" x 24" Note that the photos were taken through plastic. So any peculiar wrinkling or light is because of the plastic. The map is in excellent ... morecondition. Description A NICE OLD TOPOGRAPHICAL MAP OF PORT LEYDEN. NY WITH SURROUNDING AREAS AS WELL. IT IS WORN, STAINED AND YELLOWED. IT STATES 1905 IN ONE AREA.SURVEYED IN 1904-1905 IN ANOTHER AREA AND THERE IS ALSO ANOTHER AREA WITH 1925 ON IT. I SHOW PICTURES OF THE WHOLE MAP TO HELP DETERMINE THE EXACT DATE OF THIS TOPO. SHIPPED ROLLED IN TUBE. I will leave feedback after you receive your item and in return leave me feedback. My items are NOT in mint condition. Up for bids is a vintage multi-colored lithographed map of New York City entitled"An Historical Map of New York City" Copyright 1932 by The National City Bank of New York. I can find no attribution as to the name of the artist. There are numbers on the map that evidently show the location of bank branches and the key for these numbers is on the back. The map is printed on heavy paper. Measures 18.5" tall& 22.5" wide overall and the image is 16.5" tall& 20" wide. It is in great condition but has the following condition issues: it has been folded in quarters& will be shipped that way. There are fold creases but no tears along the creases. The edges are generally in excellent condition but there are a few minor wrinkles here& there. Please see the photos for detail of the condition issues. Map measures approx. 12" x 15.5" This includes the area of Flushing that contained the Parsons Nursery, the Henderson Nursery, the Sanford Hall Asylum, the Boerum Estate, the property of Walter Bowne, and the Poor House Burying Ground, to name just a few highlights. It was hard to get a good picture of the whole map, but you can see how clear the details are above and in the last picture. Flushing is located in the borough of Queens in New York City, but this map predates the formation of New York City. Excellent condition. Vintage WWII US Navy Map World War II Rochester NY Resupply Tanker Route Notated
This is a very special WWII map that was later annotated. Presumably with the route taken by a soldier stationed on a tanker. The front of the colorful map shows arrows and notes in blue pen tracing the route of what might have been a resupply ship, and the back lists each port in more detail. The trip starts in Rochester. NY, where the soldier then looks to have headed to Norfolk, VA to board his ship and later to Bermuda. He then travels around Cuba, through the Panama Canal to San Diego, then to Pearl Harbor. The notes on the back start with Pearl Harbor and then go on to list trips back and forth from Ulithi, a secret US naval base during the war. Trips to Iwo Jima, Okinawa, and Guam are also noted along with"accident on tanker" and a"storm" that happened south of Okinawa. There are also hand-drawn arrows drawn in ... morethat look to represent some of the invasions of Germany. It's possible the soldier's last name is Samson. Johnson or something-son" based on an illegible note near his starting point(please see photos) Map was supplied by the Citizens Committee for the Army& Navy. Inc, Boston, Affiliate of the USO. 17th edition, copyright 1942 by CC Petersen. It should be noted that even though this is copyright 1942, the dated events printed on the map extend to 1945. It is in fair to good condition, with obvious wear/discoloration. Map is not in perfect condition, but would like nice framed. There are tears along the folded portions and some creases& wear around the edges. Measures about 17" by 38.75" when unfolded. Please note that this map does portray images of swastikas to indicate Nazi German camps and is used for historical purposes rather than a symbol of hatred- because of this though. This is a 1943 reprint of the 1903 Edition and produced by Nystrom around 1960. Nice item to frame and display. In very good condition with only a couple pinholes on upper corners. These old maps are becoming scarce.
