While most GP-7 types had the marker lights on the center of each nose side– many were reshopped with the lights moved on the edge as the later GP-9 were. The General Purpose“Geep” as it was quickly dubbed saw the twilight of steam. First produced in 1949. Over 2700 of these 1500 HP diesel electrics were built until 1954 when they were superseded by the slightly more powerful GP-9. While EMD BL-2 proved to be ... morelargely unsuccessful. This is a set of 2 coordinating Hazel Atlas vintage tumblers. These tumblers are clear glass. The tumbler marked number 2 is decorated with yellow and white and depicts scenes in Washington D.C. Namely the Lincoln Memorial and the U.S. Capitol. The tumbler marked number 5 is decorated with blue and white and depicts scenes in New York City. Namely the Statute of Liberty and the Empire State Building. Each glass measures approximately 5 1/2 inches tall. 2 5/8 inches across at the mouth or rim, and 2 1/4 inches across at the bottom or base. Each glass holds approximately 13 ounces of liquid. New York. This lot includes various issues dating between March 15 and December 27, 1856 that were all bound together at one time. This was a pro Democratic Party newspaper that was formed when The Albany Argus and The Albany Atlas newspapers. Which had represented different factions within the New York Democratic Party, merged together to form The Atlas& Argus. This newspaper was edited by Calvert Comstock and William Cassidy and published by the firm Comstock& Cassidy. These newspapers contain lots of articles and editorializing assailing the nascent Republican Party and the abolition movement. The nomination of John C. ... moreFremont, Bloody Kansas and the Slavery Border Wars, the Know Nothings and more. These newspapers really capture the rancorous political mood of the country in those tumultuous years that led ultimately to the American Civil War. The Atlas& Argus became a pro Cooper Head newspaper during the Civil War. These newspapers were removed from a bound volume that appears to have been a hodge podge of issues all from 1856. These papers were printed on a durable cotton rag paper and are generally in good shape with two issues have large jagged tears(but nothing missing) One issue has a small corner piece missing that touches the text block. A couple issues have some old library tape repairs. About 4 of the 12 issues have some damage of that type while the others are in good shape with some wear on the edges or foxing. Free U.S. Shipping on Purchases of 5 or More Maps and Prints Description: It is an authentic antique map over 100 years old from Johnston's Handy Royal Atlas of Geography. Published in Edinboro& London by W. A.K. Johnston. 1906. A facsimile copy of the title page will also be included for authenticity. It was drawn by Alexander Keith Johnston(1804-71) who formed the business with his brother William Johnston. They became the most respected Scottish cartographers and map publishers of the19th century, producing the most detailed and accurate English language maps of the period, perhaps only rivaled in detail by the contemporary German August Petermann, who published for Stieler. Keith Johnston's name appears in the title ... morearea and the publishing details are in the bottom center margin. The map is not mounted, matted nor framed, being sold as shown in the main pic. Overall, a beautiful rare map with nice color that would frame up nicely. Size: The map image measures approximately 12 1/2 by 16 1/2 inches(32x42cm) on a 14 1/2 by 18" 37x46cm) page with a margin all around for framing as seen in the pic. Condition: The map is in Very Good condition with overall light tonal aging and a centerfold as issued. There are a couple of very minor spots around the margins and slight wear on the bottom edge. Otherwise the map is very clean and would frame up with a nice antique appearance, see the pics for more on condition. The pics are of the actual map.
