1899 Walker's/Cram's Railroad Map of Minnesota. Hand colored. Genuine.
This is a large 1899 Railroad Map of Minnesota. It measures 25 X 17 inches. This map has listed the railroad companies along with the area in which they cover. See scan's below) Only known copy A search of worldcat.org and all dealers stocks on the internet found no other copy of this 1899 Walker's map or the atlas that it was taken from. Walker's International Atlas" The base map was from Cram's Railway Atlas. But the plates were used to create this outstanding work of art by hand coloring the counties. The only way to properly describe the colors is compare them with Easter egg dye. This map does have a few minor handling flaws. And shows age on the edges. Wonderfully detailed. A scarce early McNally map. Much less common than later issues after c. 1888-90. A wonderful map of this state. With hundreds of place names not typically found on smaller maps and a remarkable level of detail. Overprinted in red to show railroad stations. In VG. Mostly clean condition, some gentle marginal toning[note: we grade very conservatively and always seek to disclose any noteworthy flaws] Will look very nice for display. Once framed. Folio. Original fold line as issued. Sheet size measures c. 20 1/2" W x 26 3/8" H. Each sheet has existed for a very long time and has probably been handled repeatedly in the course of it's existence. It has a history unique to it as an object. Most often these splits are trivial and easy to overlook visually. Basically, they would not significantly affect the piece adversely. The item is offered as seen. Printed more than 156 years ago. This map is drawn on a scale of 18 miles to one inch and shows the progress of the public surveys as these lands were opening up to settlement. The image area measures 17-1/2" x 21-1/4" And the map locates forts, towns, Indian treaty lines, reservations, and natural features. The map was compiled under the direction of Warner Lewis. Surveyor General, in Dubuque, Iowa, and is dated October 21, 1855. It was lithographed by A. Hoen& Company, Baltimore, and published in a report to the 1st Session 34th Congress, Washington, D.C. 1856. The map labels Indian lands and reservations. Including the Oneida reservation, south of ... moreGreen Bay, the Winnebago reservation, south of Mankato, and the Brothertown and Stockbridge reserves on Lake Winnebago. Up for auction is a vintage tablecloth for a small table or card table measuring 31 1/2 by 33 inches. This has obviously been washed and is faded but you can still see names of cities and places to visit in the states of Wisconsin. Minnesota, and Michigan along with Lake Michigan, Huron, and Superior. There is a small stain on the white edge and a larger stain in Michigan by the sunbathers near Saginaw Bay. There are pictures of a Pontiac in Pontiac. MI, windmill in what I am guessing is Holland, MI, beer in Milwaukee, WI, canoers in northern Wisconsin, Moose in northern Mn. This is an auction for two antique travel items related to MINNESOTA: The first is the cover only of a fishing scene which comes from(a missing) travel brochure for Lake Superior's North Shore Scenic Drive. On the reverse of the cover is a canoe photo and someone has typed"Typical country through which we take our trips. The whole has been cut down and is folded and worn. Also included is a brochure map for PEHRSON LODGE at Joyce's Landing on Lake Vermilion in Cook. Minnesota. There is no date, though a number'31' is printed at the bottom, so it is perhaps from then(and judging both by the Model Ts in the parking lot and the prices listed, that could be about right) It is heavily worn and chipped; with paper-loss and water-staining; as well as spots of soilng. One 1890 Dated Map of Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota - B20
Offered here is a 1890 dated map of Michigan. Wisconsin and Minnesota. There is a minor tear at the both on the edge, not on the map itself. The actual map measures approximately 11.5 by 26 inches and they were removed from the Library Reference Atlas of the World by John Bartholomew. Both maps are in good condition though there is crease down the center where the map was bound into the book. The white streak in some of my photos is the reflection from my flash. Can't seem to get rid of it. I have had some of these maps professional framed and they look great. If you are not satisfied, I will refund your money less shipping. 1882 Folding Pocket Map of Minnesota(With a Interesting Binding Error As Issued- Sewn and Glued in a Nebraska Folder But with the Minnesota Map and Index) CRAM'S RAILROAD AND TOWNSHIP MAP OF MINNESOTA. Chicago: Published by George F. Cram. Proprietor of the Western Map Depot" 1882. 17 x 22" map hand colored; folded in panels and tipped into a 3.5 x 5.5" stiff pictorial(locomotive) card stock folder. Which also has the map index sewn in. Copyright date of 1878 on the map. But dated 1882 under the scale of miles and presumably updated for this issue. However. As issued, the Minnesota map and index were tipped and sewn in a folder for Nebraska. This apparently didn't bother a former owner, whose name is lightly penciled at the top of the front folder cover. The correct folder would have resembled this on in all respects ... moreexcept for the State name. This is an original binding error- the original sewing on the index and blue on the map have clearly not been disturbed or altered. Index is 8pp with a rear endpaper that served as a guard over the map. It lists place names with their coordinates on the map. CONDITION: Fair to Good. Torn from the folder where tipped on without paper loss and with the tipped-on area adhering to the folder. Split along one fold 1.75" at bottom and with several small splits at the interstices of the folds. Slight uniform age yellowing. The paper is overall crisp. Please see the detail photos. This map would display nicely with some conservation. We use accepted bookseller's grading standards: Fine. Near Fine, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor. We grade items conservatively.
