Two smaller map insets depict southern Florida and Northern Maine, the extremes of both of which are just off the map. Printed in the late-19th century, on quality thick heavy paper which retains its inherent structural flexibility and soundness. A very uncommon huge oversize map. Bradley's atlas was monumental in scale and very expensive when issued. Making their maps somewhat uncommon in the market today. Not to be confused with more common printed color maps of this era. A very nice map when seen in person. In VG or better condition. I has locations mapped out for the locales where many well known literary works took place or were written. It was purchased as surplus and originally belonged to the English Department at the University of Michigan. It does have some yellowing from age and there is also some fraying and small tears along the very edges of the canvas. Otherwise map remains clean and quite well-preserved overall. Still attractive and pleasing. Original fold line as issued. Cary's maps were issued in a variety of coloring levels. This example with full block color heightened in outline and with the sea area colored displaying the highest and visually most pleasing.
