Called: GENERAL HIGHWAY MAP Linn County, Oregon Scale 1:62,500, compiled from aerial photos dated July, 1975 and REVISED 4-14-1980, 6-20-85, 6-9-87, 3-89, and 7-1989 is the last date given. Land Lines by the office of the Linn Co. Surveyor. Besides the county roads, it also SHOWS the TOWNSHIPS and names the mountains, rivers, creeks and lakes. Antique 1809 Map, Engraving WEST INDIES from Pinkerton's Atlas, HUGE!! Cuba, FL
I bought this at an auction. And already regret it because it's so heavy and so yellowed. I'm hoping someone adventurer out in Ebayland will want to take this on a treasure hunt! Th ese huge. Maps from Pinkerton's 1809 Atlas sell for hundreds of dollars, but sadly, this one is very yellowed. It's framed. And appears to have hung in a garage for the last 200 years. There might be a bit of mold in the upp er left corner- you can see a closeup on photo#10. Th is ma p was made from copper plate etchings. And" r elief" was illustrated with hachures. Or lines- my new wor d for the week. This really is quite a work of art. It was also hand-colored. Although the subtleties of the color are kind of lost to the ages. And the yellowing. My camera likes to add a yellow cast to everything anyway. I took all but 2 of the photos ... morein the shade. So they're especiall y yellow! The FIRST TWO pictures. However, were taken in direct sun. They should give the most accurate color perspective. From a histori cal perspective. This map is a marvel! Northern South America is labeled the"Spanish Main! Florida was not yet a state- that wouldn't happen for another 10 years! The island we now call Haiti and the Dominican Republic here is called"Hispanola. Pue rto Ric o is called" Porto Rico" And Saint Kitts is labeled St. Christopher's. Fascinating! This map is in a very heavy frame! If you look at the final 2 photos. I pulled the paper backing back a bit so you can see how the h eavy wood frame is supporte d by 2 big vertical planks- that's what the eyebolts holding the wire for hanging the picture are screwed into. According to Geographics. An online dealer of F ine M aps. The drawing of the maps for the Atlas was done by L. Herbert and the engrave r was Samuel Neele under the direction of John Pinkerton. Florida 1897 huge antique hand colored map by Walker Florida Issued 1897. NY by H.B. Walker Fine original antique lithographed map. With original full hand color. Made approximately 115 years ago. Printed in the late-19th century, on quality paper which retains its inherent structural flexibility and soundness. A very large oversized map. In near VG or better condition[note: we grade very conservatively and always seek to disclose any noteworthy flaws] The printed area remains visually pleasing. A nice impression of a quite uncommon/ scarce late 19th century map. Sheet measures c. 25" H. x 17 1/2" W. Printed area measures c. 22" H. x 15 1/2" W. Original Center-fold as issued. 16155] Any defects along the sheet edges and in the margins may be seen in the photos. note: All old sheets of printed paper possibly have short ... moreedge splits. Each sheet has existed for a very long time and has probably been handled repeatedly in the course of it's existence. It has a history unique to it as an object. Most of the time any edge splits are short. Minor, insignificant and have been closed- either long ago or more recently with small pieces of archival tape. Most often these splits are trivial and easy to overlook visually. Basically, they would not significantly affect the piece adversely. The item is offered as seen. Please look carefully and make your decision knowing this antique image is nice. But it is not in perfect"like new" condition.
