Clapham, London - Huge Late 19th Century Segmented Map, Faults
A very detailed. Segmented map of the area around Clapham Common in SW London. There isn’t a title or a scale on the map, but physically it measures approx 193cm x 105cm; printed on paper and mounted on linen, as issued. 24 segments folding into two marbled endpapers. The area covered is N-S from the south part of Battersea Park and Nine Elms Works(today’s New Covent Garden) to the top bit of Tooting Bec Common and what was then Magdelen Hospital; W-E from the west side of Clapham Common eastwards to beyond Bedford Drive and just into Brixton. As I say, hugely detailed. No date but I’d guess late nineteenth century; the area marked I believe is part of the Clapham parliamentary constituency from 1885 to 1918 and Clapham Common tube station, which opened in 1900, isn’t shown. Some of the wards are hand coloured and the red circles show the ... morelocations of churches. In summary on condition I guess the paper part of the map is good and the linen part not so good. The paper segments are very clear and quite fresh in appearance. There is damage to the paper at the very top of the bottom right segment; one other small graze; a few marks. Dust soiling and pinholes in the top corners. On the verso though each intersection of the segments is supported with tape, as are the gaps between the segments on the edges; also the whole of the marble endpapers are taped around. The endpapers themselves are rather battered. When packaged this will be a‘small parcel’ using the new Royal Mail terminology. First class postage is £3.00 plus 90p for packaging materials. 1948 Patterson NJ Phone Book Directory - Passaic County - Huge Two-Sided Map
This is a vintage phone book/directory from Patterson. NJ that is 65 years old. Over 950 pages of classifieds. Business, residential listings. Also has a huge double sided map of the city and then the area. Map is probably 20 x 30 and is rough on folds. Also inlcudes a"numerical" listing which was used back then. Fantastic advertisements. Graphics and unique ways of maximizing vendor's visability. Even printing on the page ends and spine. Has cloth tabs to separate the different categories. Spine is tight. Just minor edge wear. Unique and a great tool for research or Patterson history buff. Paypal within 3 days. Shipping cost to lower 48.

Bound. Folded topographical map of Massachusetts The Scarborough Company Boston copyright 1903 Showing railroads. Electrical railways, steamboat lines, highways, post offices, villages, etc. completely indexed. SIZE: The map measures 57 inches by 39 and 1/2 inches. The binding measures 4 and 3/4 inches by 10 and 1/2 inches. CONDITION: Good to very good. Considering that this map is the size of a dining table and probably has been folded and refolded many times. It's in remarkable shape. A few of the folds are split on the seam, mostly on the legends at the bottom of the map. See photo 4) The topographical image is unaffected. The paper is linen-like and looks like cloth. It is clean except for a very old, 2-inch moisture mark on the back edge that does not mar the image. The brown cloth covers are bumped and worn on the corners and have ... morea couple of chips on the edges. The gilt titles are slightly dulled but readable. There are four light spots the size of raindrops on the front cover. ABOUT THE MAP: This map is a history lesson in itself. It tells you everything about the Bay State circa 1903- it's hills. The map is 36" x 4 8" in size. This is the type of map the park uses to do all their yearly project planning. There are many rides and attractions that are no longer at the park that are on this"building and construction" plan. In the photos a bove you can see things like the pool out in front of the PIRATE RIDE and the pond for Bucky the Beaver's dam on the PADDLEWHEEL EXCURSIONS island. The map even shows the footers for the coasters and even shows each lamp post.
