Here is a Super VERY CHOICE CRISP NEW Series 1935-A $1 note. World War II Emergency issue for Hawaii. Overprinted HAWAII twice vertically across the face. And large horizontal H A W A I I across the back. Brown serial numbers and seal. Serial#S51001609C. Treasury signatures of Julian& Morgenthau. The U.S. Fearful after the Pearl Harbor attack that the Japanese would invade and seize the Hawaiian Islands, issued a decree requiring the removal of all U.S. currency from the Islands and its replacement with special $1, $5, $10 and $20 notes, with brown serial numbers and seals, overprinted HAWAII. These notes were the only currency legal tender in the Islands from mid-1942. The idea was that if the Japanese seized the Islands, all of the Brown seal HAWAII notes could be declared worthless and the Japanese would not get any financial benefit. ... moreHowever, this invasion did not come to pass. The HAWAII notes were the only notes circulating in Hawaii and the Pacific until mid 1944. Most US troops serving in the Pacific Theater of war were paid in these HAWAII notes. This is the only Hawaii $20 made from late finished plates. This is a popular variety as this $20 is from back plate 204 that was begun on December 21. 1934, sat in the plate vault for almost ten years, and it was not finished until March 18, 1944. These notes were the only currency legal tender in the Islands from mid-1942. The idea was that if the Japanese seized the Islands, all of the Brown seal HAWAII notes could be declared worthless and the Japanese would not get any financial benefit. However, this invasion did not come to pass. The HAWAII notes were the only notes circulating in Hawaii and the Pacific until mid 1944. This is a RARE Primo Beer mug from Hawaii. Ceramic with gold highlights. Excellent shape. No chips. But there is an imperfection, probably from when the mug was fired during finishing, on the top corner of the handle. Some discoloration along the bottom rim. If you look closely inside, there is a small hole/imperfection right where the bottom of the handle meets the mug. Its not a chip or a crack. EXTREMELY RARE COMPLETE SET OF RUTH TAYLOR WHITE'S CARTOGRAPHS OF THE HAWAIIAN ISLANDS FROM 1935 Listed for auction here is a rare set of five Ruth Taylor White cartographs of the Hawaiian Islands. Complete with their original envelope. Most are in excellent condition but each is described below. 1. Map of Territory of Hawaii- shows all the islands. It is smaller than the other maps and. I believe, is intended to be a guide to the other maps. On the back is a typed letter with helpful hints for Hawaiian words on the bottom left. The paper is very fragile and a little tattered at the edges but would frame nicely. It measures 8 1/4" x 11 1/4" 2. Map of Island of Kauai- there are no marks or tears on this map. However, one of the corners is slightly bent. All four of the individual maps of islands measure 9 1/4" x 11 1/4" ... more3. Map of Island of Oahu- this page has no tears or marks. 4. Map of Island of Maui- no tears or marks on this one. 5. Map of Island of Hawaii- no marks. But one small(1/4" tear on the edge near the left bottom. These cartographs were not pages in a book or folder but were sold. I believe, as a souvenir set that a tourist could mail home. They came in a very lightweight envelope that could be mailed. The envelope is included but is in two whole pieces having separated at all edges due to age. However, there are no marks or tears on either piece but they have yellowed. All in all. This is a remarkable find and would be a wonderful edition to any Hawaiiana or map collection. They have been stored in our smoke-free home since being purchased at an estate sale several years ago. Collection of SEVEN vintage Don Blanding books. Four of them are author-signed: Paradise Loot. Memory Room, Songs of the Seven Senses, and Vagabonds House. Two are first editions: Drifter's Gold, and The Rest of the Road. These latter two do not have dust jackets, and The Rest of the Road is faded, esp. on the spine. The three books with dj's have wear, creasing& edge tears to those dj's. But the books look good. Leaves from a Grass-House has water stains and wear& tear to the soft cover. The kit was made in Hawaii. And the copyright date is 1969. The canoe is approximately 14” long. And I believe it’s made of koa wood. Reading from the top of the box: All parts included. Vintage Napco Sailor Baby Honolulu Hawaii Planter S690G
Nice vintage figural planter of a diapered baby wearing a captains hat. Smoking a captains pipe and holding on to anchor in front of a life preserver labeled Honolulu. Manufactured by Napco pre 1960. Even has a diaper pin in his diaper. Measures 4 1/8"H x 4 7/8"W. Original Napco label still intact and the piece number, S690G, is clearly marked on the base. Excellent condition. Some light shelf wear on the base. Otherwise free of use wear and damage. The glaze quality is smooth and glossy and the colors are nice and bright.
