It provides a real time capsule showing how much a region can grow and change over the years. Please be aware that the Road Maps I sell are anywhere from 10 to 90 years old. They are printed on paper that is mostly not acid free and in most cases have not been stored in the best way. So some of the maps you are buying will be in a condition that reflects both of these facts. The map you get may be worn or lightly torn along the fold lines due to the acidity of the paper and being folded for years. They may also be discolored or mottling spots again due to the acidity of the paper. The borders and fold lines of the maps may also have tears. On occasion maps may smell musty from the way they have been ... morestored in the past. When the map is kept in an open area the musty smell will fade away in time. All Cram's Railway atlases are rare. But this is one of the rarest. No other copies are known to exist. Three libraries have microfilm copies, but no genuine 1902 atlases are left. Assume one was broken up and sold as individual maps. They are gone now into the public's hands. This is a fantastic detailed wax engraved map of Samoa. The map measures 17.5 X 13 inches. Map shows cities. Towns, ports, tourist attractions and other points of interest as it was in 1902, relief shown by hachures. Condition: Paper has aged evenly and looks dull. Colored lithography colors are still bright. Overall, in almost mint condition. Paper is very delicate. Would look fantastic framed under glass. The shirt is in a cool jazzy allover print featuring the Hawaiian islands which are entitled, Map of the Hawaiian Islands, Lahainaluna 1872, all surrounded by small pictures of natives paddling outrigger canoes, catamarans, smiling native wahine, a wahine and her native gentleman friend with a canoe beside Diamond Head, tropical fish, shells, crabs, flying fish, coconuts, war clubs, drums, Hawaiian crests, and stylized tapa figures, all in variegated shades of blue, green, tan, brown, gold, khaki, ecru, and white on a rich speckled blue/cream background with dark highlights. The picture doesn't do justice to this handsome old shirt. This shirt is a grand one that looks great although it has been gently worn; it is still ... morein great condition and is a noble old piece. Its styling is classic mid to late 1980s. The shirt retains its original flat, smooth coconut shell buttons still intact; these buttons have been hand-stitched onto the shirt for a nice couture touch. This is a vintage full-page map from a book. Date is listed in the item's title. This map has been removed from a vintage book and EACH PAGE measures about 7" x 10" So keep this in mind if the titles states that this is a 2-page map. We purchased these maps already removed from the book and all I know is the date. But not what book they came from. sorry! Map may not be perfectly clipped and may include some rougher edges and/or small tears. If the the title states that this is a 2-page map. The dividing line between the pages will need to be trimmed prior to mounting/framing. PLEASE SEE ENLARGED SCAN/PHOTO TO SEE DETAIL. THIS WOULD LOOK GREAT PROPERLY MATTED AND FRAMED! Each map is in a plastic sleeve with a backing sheet and will be mailed in a rigid envelope to ensure safety. We've never had a problem with something arriving ... moresafely using this system.
