VINTAGE NORTH TAMPA FL LA SERTOMA SCRAPBOOK This wonderful and artful book has a handmade needlepoint cover that features a clown. Throughout. The clown theme repeats. There are all sorts of arty bits in there from hand made to crayon colored. Lots of real photos, and other keepsakes. It appears that it dates from the 1960s. It is on thick paper that is age yellowed. There are a few small tears on the edges of a few pages. But nothing affecting the contents. The covers are thick board covers typical of that era. With pages strung together. The needlepoint is Quite colorful and the background is gold and it is edged in gold color gimp. It measures about 14" tall by 12" wide. En in't Americaans Gewest van Flordia, aller-eerst door Ioh. Pontius ontdekt. Description: A fine first state first edition example of Pieter Van der Aa's 1706 map of the southeast coast of North America. Covering roughly from Cape Romaine(C. de s. Romano) south to St. Augustine(C. Francois) Van der Aa's map includes parts of modern day Florida, Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina and South Carolina. Van der All drew this map on the Mercator-Hondius model though it does include various updates and more contemporary information. Cartographically the map generally references explorations and discoveries associated with 16th century French attempts under Ribaut and Laudonniere ... moreto colonize this coastline. These early French settlements around Port Royal are identified as'Karel Slot' Charlefort) There are three lakes of note in the upper left quadrant, one labeled'Lacus acuqe dulcis' a second identified as'Apalatcy' and a third further south identified as Sarrope. All three of these lakes make their first appearance on the De Bry/ Le Moyne map of 1591. The largest of these is represented as the source of the River May. In that chart Le Moyne correctly mapped the River May(St. John’s River, Florida) in an inverted'V' form, first heading north, then south to meet with a large inland lake(in all likely hood Lake George or one of the other great inland lakes of Florida) Hondius on the other hand maps the course of the May heading to the northwest, thus relocating the'Lacus Aquae Dulcis' far to the north. This error can be understood in terms of magnetic variation, temperature issues associated with isothermal lines, and navigational errors related to the confusion of the star Asfick with Polaris. ANTIQUE NORITAKE JAPAN POTTERY HAND PAINTED ORANGES FLORIDA PATTERN PLATE 1922+
Up for auction is a Noritake Company Limited of Noritake. Japan(1876 to Present and Formerly the Morimura Brothers Trading Company and Nippon Toki Kaisha Limited) Fine Porcelain, Hand Painted Pottery, Salad Plate from their Florida Pattern Consisting of Oranges in Clusters of Three along with Green Leaves, Light Pink Floral Sprays plus Black, Tan and Gold Backgound Colors on a Gloss White Glaze Application in"Excellent" Used Condition, Circa 1921 to 1924. This Noritake salad plate has no chips. Cracks, glaze crazing, major scratches, scuffs, stains or repairs of any kind. I'm grading this plate as being in overall"Excellent" used condition because it has some gold trim worn away around the edge of the plate. Some, if not all of this plate was hand painted and the three clusters of oranges within a black rectangular ... morebackground were definitely hand painted. When you look close at these three areas with a loop or magnifying glass you can see a few very faint scratches within the black background. There are also a few very faint scratches on the gloss white area of the plate from use. These scratches are so faint that I couldn't get any good pictures of them. The only way you'll see these scratches id by holding the plate close to your eyes in bright light. Please also notice that there is gold trim on both sides of each cluster of oranges within the black rectangle and none of it is worn or missing, but when you look at the gold trim along the edge of ther plate it's worn away. More than likely the gold on each side of the rectangle was fired on in the pottery kiln and the outer edge gold trim was probably"cold painted" on. This doesn't imply that Noritake didn't do quality work and it's been done that way in the china decorating industry for years now. The gold paint is thick and heavy because it has real gold in it, but most people don't realize it's not fired on so they clean the item with too much pressure or it's a very old item and the gold

This antique wood Mauchline Ware egg shaped Needle Box depicts the Putnam House Hotel in Palatka. Florida sometime after 1886. It measures 2 3/8" long and 1 3/8" diameter at the widest point. The Putnam House Hotel was originally constructed by great American entrepeneur Hubbard L. Hart around 1875. The hotel burned to the ground in the Palatka fire of 1884 and was rebuilt two years later. This fantastic Mauchline Ware Box was produced around the time period after the hotel was rebuilt. There is a great Wikipedia article on Mr. Hart.

An original lot of around 40 World War Two letters including the envelopes that belonged to Marine William Lundy. These were letters written to him. The envelopes have the send to address of Vero Beach. Florida. Around 9 are dated/postmarked 1945 the rest are from 1946. Civil War Union Confederate Patriotic Cover Magnus Florida w/ Devil
This original and unused civil war patriotic cover comes from the great 19th century collection of T. Harrison Garrett. Via the estate of the family of his librarian and art curator. Two vignettes in purple ink by Charles Magnus show an angel with clasped hands next to an American flag, and the seal of the state of Florida in the grasp of a grinning devil. Condition: album residue on verso. Please see photos for view of this cover's condition. Precursors to picture postcards. bumper stickers of the civil war, patriotic envelopes provide a vivid glimpse into the passionate emotions that raged between the mid 1850s, and 1865. Despite the brief period of their production, there are an immense variety of images and slogans-some 6,000-10,000 different designs. All covers shipped in a hard plastic protective sleeve.
