Wool/felt hat for reenactment event Civil War / Western
In the spirit of a true rebel who pretty much had to make due and alter with whatever he could find I offer for bid a very nice wool/felt hat as an affordable option for your first reenactment. Or as a temporary replacement until you can get a newer hat later. Heck, I could use this one permanently. Color is grey. And you might can use this for civilian farmer/cowboy impressions as well if you can think of the proper ensemble. Option to replace the hat band is there. Might be used for various other 19th or early 20th century impressions as well. Hat size is a approximately SMALL. 6 7/8 according to the tag Made by Resistol See my other auctions for more affordable options! IMPORTANT: Although this is a convincing substitute for a sutler brand article. I encourage you to check with your unit before you bid. I am very much involved in the hobby and can attest that this affordable option is good for most units. Especially in the short term. New hats are going for an excess of $75.00! Save money here. Egg Scale, civil war ornate, early Meriden B Company silver plate
Up for auction is my Aunt's antique ornate silver plated egg scale made by the Meriden B Company(see early Meriden hallmark stamp in pic) Notice the wear in the center of the weighing pad. Lots of eggs were placed on it over the decades. Every henge and screw is in working order along with the balancing large strew. A fully functional scale. The Meriden B Company was formed in 1852. The B stands for Britannia. This was a silver and silver plating company and many smaller silver makers eventually came together and formed the International Silver Co. in 1898. Black silver as it was called back then. And much of it has warn off especially around the numbered scale on this piece, exposing the base metal not rust. See pictures. A wonderful addition to your collection. and a most unique item that's in the neighborhood of being over 161 ... moreyears old. And a piece of early American craftsmanship. Please send me any questions if you have any. Thank you.

Ultimate Gift Judge Attorney Law Professor Laywer post Civil War 1894 Court Seal
Guaranteed Authentic! Imagine this in a Glass Case or under a Glass Dome on your Desk in your Office! Here is a RARE one of kind Piece of American History dating back to the Civil War of the United States 1864 and may be a once in a lifetime opportunity to acquire. The District of West Virginia was formed as West Virgina Succeeded from Virginia staying loyal to the Union after Virginia left the Union to join the Confederate States of America. Here is the Official Court Seal( Embosser) of the now defunct United States Circuit and District Court of the District of West Virginia. 1864-1901) This Seal was used by only two U.S. Judge's. John Jay Jackson Jr. who was Nominated to the Federal District Court by President Abraham Lincoln in 1861 from 1894- 1901 who also sat on most Circuit Court cases in the District of West Virginia along with ... moreJudge Nathan Goff of the United States 4th Circuit Court 1894-1901 when it was required for him to travel to West Virginia to Preside over certain Cases or with Judge John Jay Jackson Jr. Judge Goth was Nominated by President Benjamin Harrison in 1891 and in his distinguished life was also Secretary of the U.S. Navy 1881 U.S. Representative from West Virginia 1883-1889 U.S. Senator from West Virginia 1913-1918 The Federal Court House opened in Martinsburg West Virginia in 1894 but there is evidence that suggest the Court was operating in Martinsburg with no permanent home dating back to the 1880's. The History behind this seal and the men who used it is phenomenal. Please see below for information on the History of the United States Court District of West Virginia and Judges John Jay Jackson Jr. and Judge Nathan Goff or look it up for your self. These were the only two men who sat on the Court in The District of West Virginia from 1864-1901 when it was dissolved to make way for the Northern and Southern Districts in West Virginia. This One of a Kind piece would be the Ultimate Gift for a Judge. Attorney, Law Professor, Political Figure or History Buff. It should be a Museum

ORIGINAL VINTAGE CIVIL WAR PAINTING * POSSIBLE ILLUSTRATION * SIGNED
ORIGINAL VINTAGE CIVIL WAR PAINTING* POSSIBLE ILLUSTRATION This is a vintage original painting of a Union Officer advising a lower ranked Union soldier. The painting is thin but is all original. Not part print and part paint but all original done in oil or possibly acrylic. The painting looks to possibly be an illustration artwork. The painting is signed what looks be possibly Blanchard, Blangord, Blandgard, Blangford, etc, it is inconclusive to me, a good photo of the signature is above. There are no other markings on the painting that have been found besides the signature on front. The painting is on gray artist board. The painting appears to be vintage probably falling somewhere in the 1950's to 1960's, possibly as late as the 1970's, unsure. The painting has a few issues that are able to be restored or enjoy the painting as ... moreis. There are a few minor chips in two areas on the painting, these are in the few areas that are thickly painted, you can see the numerous layers of paint the artist worked in these small chips, there are no issues in the thinner areas of paint. The artist board has some bending around the edge of the painting, the edges lay a little lower than the middle of the painting, this can be corrected with the right application of atmospheric moisture and a weight put slowly on the painting over time. Restorers know how to do this or enjoy the painting as is, it's not that bad. The painting could use better fastening to the frame, a combination of masking tape and sharp fasteners, this will need shored up a bit eventually. The painting is actually ready to recieve and be hung on the wall if someone just wants to enjoy it, it has a secure hanging wire. Size is 21 1/4" x 17 1/4" overall size and 18 1/2" x 14 1/2" of painting itself. Ask as many questions as are needed, I'll be happy to answer them all as quickly as possible. Check at the bottom of the listing for aditional description information at a later time, if I find who the artist is before the auction

Barbara(Fritchie) Frietchie CIVIL WAR FREDERICK MD Sheet Music 1879 ILLUSTRATED Here is a super old piece of sheet music dated 1879 that needs to go to someone in FREDERICK. MD. There the famed Barbara Fritchie house is part of the walking tour and see below for a brief bio from Wikipedia. The cover reads Mrs B H Van Auken BARBARA FRIETCHIE. Words by J G Whittier. Music by Elizabeth Sloman. New York Published by Wm A Pond& Co, 25 Union Square. The cover shows Barbara waving the American flag from her window as Stonewall marches past. Would be really nice framed. Quite worn on the edges, some slight browning, penciled name on the front, and disconnected at spine(loose sheets) 10 pgs in all. Size is about 10 3/4" by 14" A central figure in the history of Frederick. She lived in a house that has, in modern times, become a stop ... moreon the town's walking tour. According to one story, at the age of 95 she waved the Union flag the middle of the street to block, or at least antagonize Stonewall Jackson's troops, as they passed though Frederick in the Maryland Campaign. This event is the subject of John Greenleaf Whittier's poem of 1864, Barbara Frietchie. MD buyer pays 6% sales tax. Please pay by PAYPAL. International shipping determined by location. Battle Damaged Civil War Federal Bronze Battleflag flagpole Eagle!
Folks. Here we have a what we believe is a battle damaged or shrapnel hit Civil War period Gilded Bronze or Brass Battleflag flagstaff Eagle finial. This relic saw some heavy action! It is missing the feet and base, that were likely broken off when the piece was hit! Note the deep indent to the left leg and chipping of the left wing. There is also a deep gouge in the back of the eagle, near it's center. It likely took a major blow with extreme force to knock the eagle off of the flag pole. This eagle based on the overall wear, polished slick surface on the mid back and head, likely lasted for many years until it could not be used anymore. Note the great rich patina and high amounts of wear to the wings, and feathers. This eagle measures nearly 5 1/2 inchs tall(minus the feet) and 7 inch wide from wing tip to wing tip. This eagle also ... morecomes mounted onto a brass plaque, that someone lead sodered to it at some point after the war! Contrary to what some collector believe, most regiments that formed early in the war used eagles, rather than spear type or spade type finials on the National colors flag. Per a state regulation, New York regiments were required to have a gilted eagle on all the flag staffs! 1858 NY Regulation: Article XXXIV. FLAGS. COLORS, STANDARDS, GUIDONS—NATIONAL FLAG. 723. Every pike-pole of staff to which the flags, standards, guidons or colors above provided are to be attached, will be surmounted with a gilt eagle. SOURCE: General Regulations for the Military Forces of the State of New York, 1858(Albany: Weed, Parsons& Co. 1858) pp. 128-130, par. 717-723. Civil war battle eagles are one of the most misunderstood and unclarified relics. Yet one of the most important and"symbols of freedom" of the civil war. To imagine how many lives were lost defending the flags and protecting these eagles, were a true symbol of sacrifice and the preservation of freedom during the Civil War. Based on the details of each individual eagle, can help to date each type and examples based on historic pho

CIVIL WAR ERA, EGYPTIAN HIEROGLYPHICS WATCH CHAIN - AS PICTURED
This is a typical example of a Civil War period non-excavated watch chain. It is seen pictured in a number of excavated artifact books on the subject. The chain panels are made from stamped coin silver and show a number of Egyptian hieroglyphics symbols on both sides. A common decorative style of the Civil War period. The chain measures 4-1/2” long and appears to be missing the round drop. It still retains its watch clip and would make an excellent addition to your display or your period pocket watch. This exact style is pictured on page 123 of Excavated Artifacts from Civil War Battlefields and Campsites of the Civil War. 1861-1865 by noted digger the late Stanley S. Phillips. ORIGINAL Civil War NEWSPAPER, the NY Daily Tribune dated Mar 28. 1864. This newspaper contains prominent front page"stacked" headlines and the complete printing of a Proclamation signed in type by ABRAHAM LINCOLN giving AMNESTY to CERTAIN SOLDIERS in the CONFEDERATE ARMY. PROCLAMATION ABOUT AMNESTY. MARCH 26, 1864. BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA: A Proclamation. Whereas. It has become necessary to define the cases in which insurgent enemies are entitled to the benefits of the Proclamation of the President of the United States, which was made on the 8th day of December, 1863, and the manner in which ... morethey shall proceed to avail themselves of these benefits; and whereas the objects of that Proclamation were to suppress the insurrection and to restore the authority of the United States; and whereas the amnesty therein proposed by the President was offered with reference to these objects alone: Now. Therefore, I, Abraham Lincoln, President of the United States, do hereby proclaim and declare that the said Proclamation does not apply to the cases of persons who, at the time when they seek to obtain the benefits thereof by taking the oath thereby prescribed, are in military, naval, or civil confinement or custody, or under bonds, or on parole of the civil, military, or naval authorities, or agents of the United States, as prisoners of war, or persons detained for offences of any kind, either before or after conviction; and that on the contrary it does apply only to those persons who, being yet at large, and free from any arrest, confinement, or duress, shall voluntarily come forward and take the said oath, with the purpose of restoring peace, and establishing the national authority. Persons excluded from the amnesty offered in the said Proclamation may apply to the President
Iron Campfire Cooking Set, Civil War, Blacksmith, Bug Out, Reenactor, Chuckwagon
Iron Cooking Set- Cooking Grill. Cooking Rack, and Lantern Holder This is a complete iron cooking open fire cooking set. Complete with a cooking grill, a cooking rack to go over the grill, and a lantern/pot/implement holder. All of these items are hand made on a coal fired forge at Graysburg Forge in Greene County. Tennessee. The design ideas for this set came from the cooking equipment that many of the Civil War Reenactors had at the annual Battle of Gettysburg reenactment. This is a great item for Civil War Reenactors or Pioneer Reenactors. This would also be great for campers or anyone who loves primitive open fire cooking in the woods. I'm selling these items separately sometimes. But I thought it would be nice to offer them as a set. GRILL: This grill comes completely apart for ease of packing and transport. It is very easy to assemble. ... moreAnd comes in 18 pieces- 4 legs approx. 18" tall and 2 frame pieces approx. 26" long(all made using 3/8" round iron) and 12 cross pieces approx. 15" long made from 1/4" round iron. The legs are driven into the ground a few inches. As seen in the picture, the grill is meant to be put up over a hole where you build your fire. This allows you to control how close the fire is below the grill. The cross pieces are finished with beeswax. I will finish the rest of the pieces with clear lacquer, or on request with a traditional beeswax finish or flat black paint. The cross pieces are attached to the frame piece with a loop, so they are secure. The cross pieces slide freely on the frame piece and are completely adjustable from one end to the other. On a customer's recommendation, I point the ends of the cross pieces so they could also be used as skewers. Spread them out for a large pan, move them to opposite ends for cooking at the fire's edge, or space them as you want to grill a hot dog or a steak. After another suggestion from a customer who wanted to make sure the sides of the grill didn't spread, on two of the cross pieces I put a loop at b
