Size: The map image measures approximately 8 by 10 1/2 inches on a 9 by 11 1/2" page with a margin all around for matting as seen in the pic. Condition: It is in Very Good condition for its age with overall light tonal ageing. There are a couple of minor light stains in the margin as seen. Otherwise it is very clean with nice color that would frame up well, see the pics for more on condition. It is blank on the reverse with original hand coloring. Haiti with Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands and The Lesser Antilles. The map comes from a disbound copy of a first edition copy of The Times Atlas. Dating from 1895, with maps produced by the German firm of Velhagen and Klasing. The map. Which is a very detailed single page map and printed in colour on very heavy quality paper, measures 16.25" x 10.75" approximately 41 x 28cm. including a good border all round. The condition is very good with no tears or creases. There is some very slight age discolouration to the edges. But if the map is matted and framed, this would not be visible. Due to its size. The map comes from a disbound copy of the Harmsworth Universal Atlas and Gazetteer of the World. Published by George Philip& Son and printed by The Amalgamated Press Ltd. London. I believe that this edition dates from around 1908. The map. Which is very detailed and printed in colour, measures 19" x 14" approximately 48 x 35cm. plus a generous border all round. The condition is excellent. With no tears, creases or age discolouration. Due to its size. The map will be posted carefully rolled in a mailing tube. The maps themselves. And the margins, are very clean. There are no tears, stains, discolorations or soiling whatsoever. Remarks The publication of the Times Survey Atlas in 1922 was the culmination of six years of painstaking work and. With the combination of political and the physical colour range from dark green to dark brown to indicate elevation, it marked the beginning of the age of'modern cartography. It surpassed any atlas before it in terms of scope(112 double-page folio map) and accuracy. Many of the maps published in this atlas were used in other atlases in many countries as recently as the 1970s. These maps will look great framed and hung individually or, on a large wall, in groups. This beautiful large-scale map of"Palestine or The Holy Land" was produced by Geographer to the Queen of Scotland. Alexander Keith Johnston and published in 1882 in his"Royal Atlas of Modern Geography. Johnston apprenticed to James Kirkwood& Sons, Engravers in 1820. In 1826, he partnered with his brother William in W. A.K. Johnston. He died July 9th, 1871 in Yorkshire but the business continued under his name until the late 1890's. This a very colorful map by Adolf Stieler from his Hand Atlas No. 17 It is a map of the East Indies including India. Siam, and Malaysia. A very detailed map showimg mountains, rivers and major cities. Map measures 11 x 9 inches and is in good shape. Some browning in the upper right margin. Adolf Stieler(1775–1836) was a German mapmaker who worked most of his life in the Justus Perthes Geographical Institute in Gotha His maps and atlases are deservedly held in high esteem for their excellence. His Hand Atlas was the leading German world atlas until the middle of the 20th century, parts of which were printed until 1944.

Working in Edinburgh, was one of the leading British cartographers and his maps are good evidence of the quality of work issued in Great Britain at the time. This map was issued at an interesting period in the history of the American southeast. The state of Georgia is of particular note. For its borders are shown as they were in 1798 just before the Mississippi Territory was established, extending from the Atlantic to the Mississippi. It is not unusual for a British map maker to be late in reflecting internal American information on his maps, but the nearly twenty year lapse here makes one wonder whether Thomson was in fact a Georgian chauvinist. While somewhat anachronistic, the information of settlements, rivers, mountains, and ethnological details is fascinating. This fine map is guaranteed to be completely original. This map. A fine antique map from The Times Survey Atlas of the World SIBERIA Provenance The Times Survey Atlas and Gazetteer of the World by J.G. Bartholomew Published London: The Times Printing House. 1922. All the maps we are selling come from the same original 1922 atlas. Cartographer J.G. Bartholomew. Cartographer to the King. Size/ Format 22.5" x 17.5" 57.6 cm x 44.8 cm) One fold in the centre. The margins are clean and range form 0.5" to 0.8" 1-2 cm) on all sides. These maps were all'tipped in' to the atlas. Which means they can easily be removed as a single sheet with a fold in the centre. Condition Very Good. The colors are bright and fresh. The maps themselves. And the margins, are very clean. There are no tears, stains, discolorations or soiling whatsoever. The atlas from which these maps were removed did NOT ... morespend its life at a public library. It was part of a private collection and was treated very well. Note that slight differences in the colours of the margins are the result of my scanner being just wide enough to capture the width of the map. But not all of the margins. So, the parts of the margins have been added on after scanning. All the maps have full, uniformly coloured margins, as issued. Remarks The publication of the Times Survey Atlas in 1922 was the culmination of six years of painstaking work and. With the combination of political and the physical colour range from dark green to dark brown to indicate elevation, it marked the beginning of the age of'modern cartography. It surpassed any atlas before it in terms of scope(112 double-page folio map) and accuracy. Many of the maps published in this atlas were used in other atlases in many countries as recently as the 1970s. These maps will look great framed and hung individually or, on a large wall, in groups. Rare Large Antique 1893 Bacon's Folio Atlas Map of Southern SCOTLAND
A fine original 19th century antique map from G.W. Bacon. This listing: Scotland(South) Provenance Commercial and Library Atlas of the World. Containing one hundred inset maps. Including all the latest discoveries, Extensive letterpress descriptions, Alphabetical index, Populations from the latest censuses, Gazetteer of 2,000 principal towns, Statistical diagrams and tables, etc. Edited by G.W. Bacon. F.R.G.S. Publisher London: G.W. Bacon& Co. Limited, 127 Strand. 1893. The maps for sale here are all at least 115 years old. I removed them from the damaged atlas myself. Size/ Format In millimeters(and inches) Sheet: 540 x 345(21 x 13½) Map: 480 X 300(18¾ x 11¾) These maps were all'tipped in' to the atlas. Meaning that they could be removed as a single intact sheet. There is a fold in the centre of each map. The maps ... moreare lithographs on heavy paper. The colors and still bright and fresh. The margins are generous. Condition The overall condition of the maps is very good/ excellent. There is the occasional spot in the margins of a few of the maps. And the occasional minor tear(always completely confined to the margins) has been professionally repaired. The photos included in the listings are of the actual maps you will receive, Remarks This atlas is relatively scarce. I was only able to find three rather pricey examples available online. A fourth is in the custody of the UK National Archives. Many of the maps that appeared in this atlas were originally published by Bacon in the 1860s as the highly sought after Weekly Dispatch series of maps. These maps are unusually rectangular with a length to width ratio of 1: 1.56. Which was, and is, unusual. The double maps are somewhat longer or'taller' than usual when vertical, and somewhat longer'wider' than usual when horizontal. This Commercial and Library Atlas offers a refreshing change from Bartholomew's widely adopted treatment of the world's geography with pleasant surprises like Tasmania occupying a full double page map

Clean and very fresh; the odd faint mark and speck but very minor. In the margins some light dust soiling and a little bit of darkening towards the edges. Verso is blank. All of the maps are clean, no foxing or marks of any kind. A few maps have minor closed tears in the margins and have been professionally repaired with archival tape.

Civil War Atlas Map SHERMAN MARCHES from 1891 The Official Atlas to Accompany
I recently acquired around 40 plates from The Official Atlas to Accompany the Official Records of the Union and Confederate Armies. This impressive set of 175 maps and plans was published in an edition of 1.000 copies and not available to the public from what I understand- and individual maps can sell for hundreds of dollars each. I'm going to list about five of them and gage interest. Gen.W.T. Shermans march to the sea was a triumph. And a tragedy PLEASE NOTE THE EDGE TEARS and bid accordingly- these poor maps have been insect damaged to varying degrees. BUT THEY ARE PRICED ACCORDINGLY. Each measures 18 by 29 1/2 inches and has a center fold line.
