Blackie's The Comprehensive Atlas& Geography of the World(Blackie& Son: Glasgow. Edinburgh& London, 1882) a copy of the title page is included for authenticity. The publisher is stated in the bottom center margin. They are not matted nor framed being sold as shown in the main pic, blank on the reverse. Overall, a very nice pair maps that would frame up nicely or one could carefully crop and piece them together to form a very large map doubleing the dimensions below. Size: The dimensions of each map area between the neat lines measures 13 1/2 by 19 1/2 inches(34x50cm) on pages measuring 15 1/2 by 22 1/2" 40x57cm) with margins all around as seen in the main pic. Condition: Both are in Good condition with overall light tonal ageing printed on a heavy buff pages. Blank on the reverse with centerfolds as issued. There is some light wear around the edges, the North has a clipped corner and a repaired corner, otherwise they are very clean and would frame up well, see the pic for more on condition. Large format(approximately 12 3/8 x 17 1/2 inch) German color. Two-sided map removed from an atlas(nope- I didn't remove it) showing major shipping lines worldwide with emphasis on German lines. Lower half of map showing German transocean airlines, including those designated by Zeppelins to North and South America(Hindenburg and Graf Zeppelin) and Lufthansa, including catapult ships Schwabenland and Friesenland. Lower right shows routes throughout Europe, again with emphasis on German lines. Other side shows world map with political boundaries including those of European colonial territories. Items of particular interest include German shown with Austria and all of Czechoslovakia incorporated as well as former colonial territory in Africa and the Pacific ceded as decitated by the Versaille Treaty as German. Alexander Keith Johnston. Took the title Geographer at Edinburgh in Ordinary to the Queen when he began map-making in Scotland in 1826. This map is out of Keith Johnstons General Altas. Asia is illustrated in this map. Details include the names of regions, rivers, lakes, mountains, important cities, and state boarders. Each large scale map was printed on thick paper with vibrant printed outline color. This has some visible flaws. Taken from a dilapidated edition of the 1908 Harmsworth Atlas. An attractive map with great detail. Measures approx 35cm x 48cm excluding borders. With a horizontal centrefold as published. The‘Industries and Communications’ maps are some of the most interesting in Harmsworth. Not least because of the huge amount of trade information they convey. Across the map the names of the principal products and industries by area are printed in red. The main through routes by land are shown. The map also shows principal sea routes including distances and durations for the most important. Locations of British and American consuls are shown.
