Up for auction I have two leather straight razor sharpening strops. Both strops are approx. 25" long(including their buckles) x 2 1/2" wide. I would date these to the late 1800's to the early 1900's. The first is a two part strop that is leather and also has a separate heavy canvas strop. This one is San Francisco made by: RICHARDSON& ERLIN CO. also says: RECO. The name of this strop is: ETHIOPIAN BEAUTY" also stated: 5-10-15. This strop is in nice useable condition with a bit of wear to the leather here and there. The second strop is made by: THE BAKER UNIVERSAL STROP. POMONA, CA. The backside states that it is a"BAKER PROCESSED HONE" The leather on this one is somewhat stiff and there is a piece missing out of one side. This one has a fancy pressed steel buckle. Antique Dress Sword by B. PASQUALE San Francisco w Scabbord "E. Pleuribus Unum"
You are bidding on a very handsome antique dress sword and scabbord by the B. Pasquale Company. Which operated in San Francisco California from the mid-19th Century through the first part of the last century. More specifically, a Google search revealed the following about that maker: Started in 1854 at 103 Fifth Avenue B. and 115-1 17 Post St. San Francisco. B. PASQUALE COMPANY(Benoit Pasquale) were the only manufacturers of"Army and Navy Equipments and Uniforms" on the pacific coast. Their motto was"Quality and Fit Guaranteed" They soon branched out into all areas of militaria, and Masonic, Park Service to name a few other forays. And through the early 1900's had few others that rivaled their diversity and quality. As you can see, this sword is nicely etched/engraved, with a number of designs/patterns, including flowers/scrolls ... moreand an eagle with the words"E. Pleuribus Unum" across it, as well as the letters U.S. on one side, and the initials H.S. centered on the other. As you can also see, this sword comes with what appears to be its original scabbord to protect it. The sword measures approximately 38" from the end of the handle from the tip of the point. If you are a collector of vintage swords or militaria, this would be a great acquisition for you!

antique 19th Will & Finck carving set bone knife & fork San Francisco gold rush
carving set from noted San Francisco dirk and bowie maker Will& Finck. Identifiable by the distinctive style of the guard on the fork, since the knife has lost its mark to rust. Handles are Eskimo cattle bone with distinctive stone look core showing on both pieces and a bit of"bark" on the knife, and have a"jigged" pattern-carved surface. Handles are cracked as seen and the knife handle rattles a bit(but does not wiggle) and has a loose ferule with a crack across part of its width. Knife blade shows past heavy rust but has been cleaned to bare metal and thin black patina and sharpened. Fork shows mostly smooth grey patina with slight surface rust, as seen. Probably pre Civil War. Rare. I received an advisement from an ebay member that it is possible for these to have been made by a different 19th century cutler imitating ... moreWill and Finck's style. Will and Finck usually used tapered ferules, often with a jewel cut surface, but I did some looking and found some old marked Will and Fincks with ferules very similar to these. This large antique brass telescope is beautifully engraved with cursive writing"Joesph Brothers San Francisco Day or Night" The style of writing leads me to believe that it is from mid to late 19th century. Not sure of the maker but i was told that it is possibly made by Dollond. Everything is in working condition. The optics work fine and it opens and closes just like it is suppose to. The end cover can be removed and slide out end sleeve for shaded viewing. Very rare piece. I can not find one with similar engraving and just the mention of San Francisco makes this a very desirable piece to collectors. I have polished them the best I could but I know a professional could do better. Interested in providing inexpensive recreation for the general public, he changed San Francisco's sparse and undeveloped Point Lobos area into a flourishing recreational complex that during its heyday boasted the Cliff House. The vast real estate holdings of Adolph Sutro, mostly in San Francisco but a few outside, are pictured and described, and appraised. Ranch, San Miguel Ranch, etc. Mr. Baldwin writes in depth about the famous properties and how Mr. Sutro's benefactors would best be served with the development of each property.
