This auction is for a $20 Brown Seal Hawaii note from San Francisco. CA. Series of 1934 A. This note bears the signatures of Julian and Morganthau. The front states" Legal tender for all debts. Will pay to the bearer on demand TWENTY DOLLARS" and Federal Reserve Note. Hawaii is printed on the left and right sides of Andrew Jackson(Old Hickory) on the front. The White House in Washington. DC is featured on the back. HAWAII is printed across the back in large letters. The value of currency and financial planning provisions had become abundantly clear when war began in Europe in September. 1939. Several countries immediately and frantically shipped their gold bullion reserves and large amounts of currency to the U.S. and Canada in a rescue program codenamed Operation Fish. As it does with everything in peacetime, money fuels war machines ... moreand capturing the legal tender of any nation is always high among an invading enemy's priorities. The U.S. plan to demonetize any captured wartime emergency currency offered our government the protection of preventing any benefit to the enemy. But not protection for the local individuals whose money was confiscated. Meanwhile. During the war $1 Silver Certificates were also the subject of government experiments with new paper formulas. Notes printed on the experimental paper had an"S" imprinted in the lower right corner. At the same time a like number of $1 bills printed on traditional paper displayed an"R" in the same location. A total of 1,184,000 notes were printed for each type. To the writer's knowledge, no results for the experiment were ever released. Very rare antique vanity tray from the early days of the St. Francis Hotel of San Francisco! Rectangular-shape. Ivory color china with a double gold stripe around the rim and an oak leaf wreath with St. Francis written in the center, also in gold. The maker's mark on the bottom of the tray is O.P. Co. Syracuse China, which dates the piece in the 1910's or early 1920's. In nice condition with no chips or cracks! There is some wear/fading in the gold trim. Please see pics for close-up detail! Antique Tapered Round Columns San Francisco California Redood Victorian 1800's
Two antique Redwood Victorian era columns that measure 5' 5 1/2" in height. The colums taper from the base diameter of roughly 10" and tapering at the top to about 8" The base is 14" inch square at 4" in height and the top is 13.5 x 2" There is one corner that was banged into or something but can easily be repaired. These colums have been in storage from one place to the next for many year. These came off an old San Francisco mansion I was told. There would be no shipping charge for local pickup.

Offered is a scarce California piece of Gold Rush ephemera. This is an original hand tinted print of early San Francisco when it was the hub of the Argonauts headed into the Sierra gold fields. The graphic shows very clearly. The ELDORADO and PARKER HOUSE, and ST. CHARLES Hotels as well as a fleet of tall masted ships in the harbor background. Also depicted is an interesting variation of the American flag with an eagle where the blue field normally is. Antique 1915 San Francisco Pan-Pacific Expo Liberty Bell Button & Card- Nice!!!
First of all. Thank you for taking the time to view this auction. Here is what's available for sale: Antique 1915 San Francisco Panama-Pacific International Exposition(Pan-Pacific Expo) Liberty Bell pin/button and souvenir card as given out to attendees of the compliments of the City of Philadelphia. The 1915 Pan-Pacific Expo is often felt to be one of the last great world's fairs. And was as much a celebration of the Panama Canal as it was of the rebuilding of San Francisco following the horrifically destructive earthquake which occurred just a few years earlier. As part of this event, the Liberty Bell was transported across the country to be displayed during the San Francisco Pan-Pacific Expo, which is where this Liberty Bell card and button originate. The card and pin/button are guaranteed to be 100% original, nearly 100 year old ... morerelics from this historic exposition, and despite their age, they are in gorgeous condition. Both of these items were found together, with the pin/button still clipped onto the top of the card as shown in several of the pictures provided. It is very likely that these two items have been together ever since they were given out as a souvenir in 1915. Following is a detailed description of both items: Liberty Bell Card- This card is in excellent. Original condition, with bright, vibrant colors, good quality card-stock construction, and very little discoloration due to age. In fact, the original card-stock still retains much of the original bone-white color, and all of the original printing is still bold with great coloration. There are a few light signs of wear from storage/handling on the front and back surfaces of the card, as well as some small creases near the bottom two corners. There are also a few small nicks along the top of the card caused by clipping the included buttton/pin to the top edge of the card. The front of the card depicts the Liberty Bell centered between the U.S. and Panama flags, along with the date of the Expo, 1915. The back of the card provides a basic h

A delightful porcelain doll I purchased directly from the SAN FRANCISCO MUSIC BOX COMPANY in the Walnut Creek. California store. These stores no longer exist. San Francisco Music Box Company made such a variety of wonderful collectible items at that time, and all musical. Pouty doll Peaches, was one of their first musical porcelain dolls of a larger size. These dolls were one my favorite items in the store. I am the original owner, and am including my original receipt from the San Francisco Music Box Company. Sweet PEACHES stands approximately ... more20 inches to top of head. She has porcelain head and breast plate to mid-chest. Head is pivoted at neck for posing. Arms are designed to be movable at their joints. Porcelain hands and arms to elbow. Porcelain feet and legs to knee. Porcelain is smooth with natural tone. Noted: there is an approximately 1/2 in. long separation seen in the porcelain in the back and at the end of the breastplate(see picture below) This has been there since purchase. And has never changed. It appears the porcelain may have been cast with this flaw, however I am not an authority on doll making. This flaw has been acceptable for my display purposes since it is covered with her clothing and never seen, therefore it does not detract from the doll’s overall appearance. She has realistic hands with all fingers intact. Doll has a well constructed sewn and stuffed center torso. Torso has music box inside with silver wind up key extending from lower back(see picture below) Plays"Thank Heaven for Little Girls” and music box plays well. Antique San Francisco Victorian large stained glass window
Large wood framed stained glass window from a San Francisco Victorian house torn down during the 1960s. Victorian was built around the 1850s. Window original to the house. My father received the window in a deal when the house was torn down. Not his house though. The wood frame is probably redwood. Frame will need some restoring. I have had the window in two of my houses including my present house. Hand painting of a bird in window's center is original. Not signed by artist. Color window panes are 80 to 90% original. Antique maps make great conversation pieces and represent inexpensive authentic pieces of history. Also great for display! Most collectible maps are obtained from atlases whose bindings have fallen apart. The first of this lot is from 1898 published in an oversize Rand-McNally and measures about 27 x 21 inches. The second measures 11.5 x 14 inches and is dated 1895 also Rand McNally. The third map is colored a pleasant yellow and green. This measures 10 x 12.5 inches and was disbound from a decrepit Hammond's Atlas. These are all original historic documents with tremendous detail showing pre-quake SF. Free shipping too!

This exquisite object d'art has 360 degree. Hand-painted pastel colored, enameled scenes of a mother and a young child in an outdoor setting. These opera glasses or binoculars have a mother of pearl adjusting disk. The tops of the lenses are also made of mother-of-pearl and are engraved on one side'San Francisco' and on the other"Mrs. Lux" They measure 4" x 3" It is very interesting to note that nearly all of these types of binoculars were made in Europe and most in France or Austria where the best enamelers were found. We suspect that these were French made. But custom ordered for a Mrs. Lux through a high-end San Francisco shop. That information alone adds a rarely found dimension to this very beautiful and practical accessory of another era. The metal is gilt bronze or brass alloy. A little(3 3/4in) bottle of Camphorated Oil from the Haight St. Pharmacy at 1601 Haight St and Clayton. 1 fluid ounce. The Label is completely ledgable, the black cap screws on and the bottle was made in Illinois and has an 8 and an S on the bottom. The bottle is also numbered on the side with measurements. It provides a lot of information to anyone interested in"reading" what it has to"say" PUMP SPECS& DATA: Pump is almost 100% solid brass or bronze. Total length is 26 inches. Outer brass tube is18-1/2 inches long and 1-1/8-inches in diametre. Wood handle is somewhat wider. ~Stamped on exterior is the following: FORESTER PUMP MFG. BY WESTERN FIRE EQUIP. CO. S. F. San Francisco) CALIF. ~Second brass tube inside allows tool to create suction in one direction by hand pump action back and forth. In and out. This second tube, which extends while pumping, can add up to 15 inches of length to pump when fully extended.
