The map covers the United States east of Texas and the Indian Territory as well as parts of Canada south of the Hudson Bay and west of Nova Scotia. Cruchley divides the states with color coding identifying major cities as well major rivers. Topography is rendered by hachure. The 1850s were a period of both great hope and simmering tensions in the United States. The discovery of gold in California one year earlier initiated and mass trans-continental emigration in the quest for wealth and land. California was admitted as the 31st state in September of this year and the cities of Los Angeles and San Francisco were incorporated. Meanwhile. Tensions continued to rise between the slave holding agrarian southern states and the industrialized'free' northern states. This wonderful sterling silver souvenir spoon was purchased by my grandparents at the San Francisco World's Fair in 1915. The handle shows the California Building and the words PPIE(for Panama Pacific International Exposition) San Francisco 1915. The rear of the handle has the maker's mark for Charles M Robbins. Sterling, Official Souvenir, P-P-I-E. The spoon seems to be in remarkable condition for its age, with only some light scratching and tarnish imbedded in the design. Antique German Glass Beer Stein Pewter Lid- Cafe' Odeon San Francisco California
This glass beer stein was manufactured by Sachsischen Glasfabrik(the SG and Crown Mark) A German glass company. Sometime after 1897(beginning use of mark) and probably before the Cafe' Odeon re-opened in San Francisco in 1906. The lid is pewter and engraved with the name of the restaurant. An article in The San Francisco Call from July 14. 1906 was found on the internet detailing the reopening of the restaurant. I was unable to determine the popular restaurant's original opening date. But the maker's mark was only used until 1910. The stein is 7-1/2 inches tall. 3-1/4 inches in diameter, 5 inches to edge of handle and holds.5 liter. The only defect in this hundred year old piece of American History is a ding in the lid(see pictures) All pieces of the stein are marked by the maker. I'm offering some extremely rare San Francisco drug store bottles this wk. Some are unlisted. And others are rated"Rarity 5" the top rarity given in the Ca. Drug Store book. This one is embossed on the front: M.H. FOWLER APOTHECARY SAN FRANCISCO(fancy MHF monogram) 3 5/8" tall; no chips. Cracks or dings. Has overall staining from being buried. The cork is laying inside the bottom. Bottle is quite crude with whittle. Looks like an older bottle from the 1870s or early 1880s. This one is not listed in my book, and is the only one I've seen. SAN FRANCISCO ANTIQUE PALACE HOTEL PLATE
This lovely antique plate from San Francisco’s famous Palace Hotel is 9 inches in diameter. On the top of the plate is a near mint double-head bird figure of the Palace Hotel’s gold insignia that reads‘PALACE HOTEL’ Also the outer rim is gold trimmed. My Grandmother told me she got this memorable plate in the 1930’s. From the hotel when The Palace Hotel was known as the Most Famous Hotel in the World! She said The Hotel had been using the plate so I don’t know how old it really is but the gold insignia makes me believe it is much older- 1910 to 1930. This plate is not a souvenir plate. The hotel probably used it in their dining room because it is the original heavy-weight type of restaurant china. SYRACUSE China. U.S.A. is stamped on the back of this plate. Above this are three digits which may be 7-OD(see detail picture) Originally the PALACE ... moreHOTEL was built in 1875 by William C. Ralston. Who was a prominent San Francisco figure in the early California days. Even then it was known as the most elegant. Costliest and largest hotel in the world. The Palace Hotel survived the San Francisco earthquake on April 18. 1906! However. The great fire after the earthquake, destroyed the Palace Hotel when the hotel’s water supply ran out. It was rebuilt in 1909 and continued to operate as the Palace Hotel until 1954 when the Sheraton Hotel Co. bought it and changed its name to the Sheraton Plaza. Since the PALACE HOTEL was such a San Francisco byword it was changed back to the PALACE HOTEL and today it is still known as one of San Francisco’s most elegant. Historic hotels! This plate has never been in a dishwasher since my family owned it. The plate shows usage. Including the gold rim(see pictures) The glaze re mains shiny. However. We are offering this uncleaned. Mid-western glass bottle from our collection. Mid-western bottles always seems to have richer aqua color. San Francisco bottle embossed: AMMONIA S.F. GASLIGHT CO. This type of bottle was made in the mid to late 1800s by the San Francisco Gaslight Company and this particular one contained ammonia, whereas others might contain different chemicals. These come in many colors and variants. Clear embossing letters. The condition is excellent. Without any ground-wear or"damage" The bottle has an applied blob lip and a classic ammonia shape. See pictures for best description. Dimensions: 9.5" high by 4" wide at the base. This would make a great addition to your bottle collection.

The bellows appear to be in nice shape with no holes, cracks, or repairs. The accordion will play when certain buttons are pressed. One or all three of the sliding parts(valves? seem to be frozen in place, but it doesn't appear to damaged from the outside. Musical instruments are not my area of expertise, and I do not specialize in accordions. Antique 1912 Elks Portland Pin& a Nickel from 1906 San Francisco Fire/Earthquake Family heirloom handed down with handwritten note. Note says"Souvenir of the Elks Grand Lodge. Your father belonged to the B.P.O.E. and the other side says"This nickel came out of the ruins of the San Francisco. Calif. The pin is enameled. Has Portland 1912, clock, elk, and on back has Chas. M. Robbins Co. Attleboro, Mass. The nickel is badly burnt and the only thing I can read is 1905 and stars. Payment is due within three days of end of auction. Thank you for looking.

1890 Antique Engraved Silver Plaque to Archbishop of San Francisco P.W. Riordan
ONE OF A KIND ANTIQUE Jubilee plaque commemorating Archbishop of San Francisco Patrick William Riordan's(1841-1914) 25th anniversary of his ordination. It was presented to the Archbishop by the students of Notre Dame College in San Francisco and consisted of an original poem( text below) When originally purchased the silver portions were described as 90% silver or coin silver. I am no expert and have no way of verifying this. VERY NICE VICTORIAN DESIGN WITH AN IRISH MOTIF. DUE TO THE ARCHBISHOP'S HERITAGE. THERE ARE SHAMROCKS AND HARPS AT THE TOP AND BOTTOM. VERY FINE CURSIVE ENGRAVING. The plaque is placed in a field of burgundy crushed velvet surrounded by a leaves,twigs, and berry design. Crushed velvet absent in many spots and disintegrates upon touch. Tear in the cloth in upper left corner. There are gaps at two points of the ... moretwigs/leaves/berry design. See photos. Vintage antique San Francisco wooden box. primitive arts and crafts
This is a great. Old, round wooden box. I believe it is from the arts and crafts period. The stamped mark on the bottom reads"Schossler brothers, San Fransisco, coast agent" Other than that I do not know where or when it was made. Wooden base with applied design. Whatever had originally been glued on the top finial is gone. Brownish gold finish on the outside of box, green coloring on the applied pieces. This may have been a cheese or butter container for a dairy. Thanks for looking.

Fantastic old piece of silver. Recent acid test by dealer confirms it is high grade. Weighs 4 1/8 oz NOT the 4 1/4 pictured. The scale wavered back and forth so lets go with the lighter weight. 1915 Panama Pacific EXPOSITION San Francisco Souvenir Old Antique Watch FOB ppie
Up for sale here is an original. Antique 1915 Panama Pacific International Exposition enameled arts and crafts style Pocket Watch FOB. It comes with its original chain and has impressed marks on both sides of the Medal/ FOB. The piece measures about 1 1/2 inches in diameter. The overall condition of this work is good. There is some overall age toning or tarnish to the surface and there is some minor wear to the enamel from handling over the years but its still in nice shape. One of the small links on the chain has a slight bend but it is not broken nor does it really detract from the watch fob's appearance. This is a unique collectible from an almost forgotten major exhibition that will be celebrating its 100th anniversary next year. This would make a great add on for a period antique pocket watch. vintage antique Michael Price San Francisco fixed blade knife 1850 Gold Rush era
This vintage knife is marked M Price San Fran. It is 14 3/4 inches long overall with a 9 1/2 inch carbon steel blade. It was reportedly made by the well known knife maker Michael Price during the California gold rush(1849-1852) The knife is used and has wear. The blade has a thick dark patina with rust in some spots. There is a ding in the blade edge at the tip. The handle looks a bit rough. There is a long crack on one side and a smaller crack on the other. Additionally there are areas crackled surface(see photos) Despite the condition it is still nice to be able to own a knife by a somewhat famous and historical knifemaker. The item has not been cleaned and is sold in as-is condition. Shipping is $7.65
