Minor light surface age wear and some wrinkling along the edges of the sheet but the map remains, clean and attractive[note: we grade very conservatively and always seek to disclose any noteworthy flaws] The printed area remains visually pleasing. The box is sturdy& solid in structure& weighs 1.25 lbs. but the upholstered with fabric which is frayed, worn& soiled, there is a sturdy brass handle on the lid. The two doilies are mid-century about 1950's. The doilies are in very good shape with minor staining. Antique RARE VISALIA STOCK SADDLE COMPANY SAN FRANCISCO VINTAGE
I tried to get a date when this may have been made. But visalia lost all there records pre 1950 anyways in a fire. Talked with the visalia company and the id#s didnt help much with getting a date. The pictures are hi-res and should give you all the detail you need. As for what things are called and how long they are? I wish I could give you more history, but what I know is- it came from an estate of a rancher who also had race horses and this was one of his collectibles. Very old and I've learned some saddle history but nothing to help you other than these pictures. Great Visalia stock saddle company- san francisco. The numbers are in the pictures but haven't helped me find anything else out. The maker is hard to make out but if you know or have an idea of who the maker was- please e-mail me if possible, thanks happy bidding jim. ... moreok, really sorry I had to re-list the item but it was the only way to give you more information since there were bids on it. Here's what I found out. This saddle is from 1925 and the maker was Miles city saddlery co. and this exact saddle was in a brochure with this number on it 099. Same number on the saddle and when I get the paperwork it will go with the saddle. Amazingly someone tracked down the exact saddle from a 1925 brochure-including number. Now I'm not sure as why that is? As the saddle is clearly designed and tooled by visalia? Antique San Francisco Ca Gold Dust Scale George W. Simmons "Oak Hall" Boston
I do not know the complete history of this piece. But it is really neat. In the mid 1800's George W. Simmons owned and ran the"Oak Hall" in Boston Massachusetts. This was considered a high end tailoring establishment. It seems that he partnered up with Lilly and another Simmons and had some sort of establishment with the need to weigh gold dust here in San Francisco California. I do not have much experience in selling gold scales, so I am not aware if this set is complete. Everything seems to be in good shape. There is a key included that does fit and work the lock, but the locking mechanism is not complete. Other pieces from the"Oak Hall" with George W. Simmons name on it are currently being held in the National Museum of American History aka the Smithsonian in Washington D.C. The current pieces are not on display, ... morebut this might be something interesting enough for them to consider. I know very little about this piece and I am guessing at most of the information listed, but if you know anything about this piece I would be glad to hear what you know. The company was also known for their patented trademark"drop handle"May 28, 1918. This beautiful piece is an authentic original. Original cast iron casters(see pictures) Original screws, and original wheel mechanisms. NOTHING on this piece has been refurbished or replaced. The condition is used and came from the family estate of the orginal owner. The wheel mechanisms are fully functional. The original glass paned tray is intact without any cracks. Dragon Trade Mark of the Sing Fat store. The robe or coat is very old. May date before the 1906 earthquake, they did have a store prior to the earthquake and rebuilt it after the earthquake. I am unsure if it came from the Los Angeles or San Francisco store? No buttons missing, they are button and loops, buttons are metal. The silk lining is darkened at the back neck area and lining is also shattering from age in the upper back near the collar(see photos) Some gold threads are loose ... moreon the outer embroidery, most at the neck and cuff area, some smaller tips or ends are loose and some edge thread on a dragon. A spot on front and back of one sleeve and one on the back right lower robe. This is a nice antique coin silver teaspoon from California. It bears the marks of Samuel Jelly. Who worked in Sacramento c 1850-1880, and Vanderslice& Co, a firm out of San Francisco run by William Keyser Vanderslice partnered with Charles Henry Sherman, c1860-65. This spoon is 6 1/8” long and weighs 0.8 troy ounces. It has an elegant mono of LMK. It has some minor nicks and scratches and minimal tip wear, see the photos. Up for sale is a very rare parlor lamp. This bronzed lamp is 43" tall and 16" at its widest. It weighs a little over 25lbs. There are separate switches for the top light and the lower tier of lights. Ackerman Bros. was a department store in the 1880's. These are heavy, restaurant type butter pats. They each measure approx. 3 1/8" round. They each have different flowers painted on them and a blue band border. 2 of the butter pats have name stickers on them from the original owner which I did not remove. These are very old and do have signs of wear and paint loss. I do not see any cracks. There are some chips on the bottoms. There is some areas of discoloration. Up for auction is this nice building plaque. It reads"Moore& Scott Iron Works Engineers& Ship Builders 1912 SF" The plaque appears to be made of brass or bronze. The front looks to have had a copper plating which is worn off in places as seen in the photos. There are stains on the back side. There is a hole in each corner of the plaque where it was mounted to a wall. Please refer to the photos for condition or ask any questions before bidding.
