Frary& Clark traces its start to the time George Landers, age sixteen, arrived in New Britain, Connecticut in 1829 looking for a job. He soon went to work for Josiah Dewey who, seven years earlier, had started a small foundry making cupboard latches and other hardware. After Dewey's death, it became Landers& Smith Manufacturing Company in 1853. In 1862 the small but prosperous company made another of the many acquisitions that were to mark its history and growth in future years. It acquired the firm of Frary, Clark& Company, of Meriden Connecticut, the company name changed to Landers, Frary& Clark, which it retained for the next full century of its existence(1962) The company and the extent of its line continued ... moreto grow. Antique Lot Of Meat Grinders Universal And Russwin No 2 Meat Chopper Cast Iron
2 working meat grinders. Seem to be complete and missing nothing. The universal does have some rust and needs a good cleaning. The russwin looks pretty clean with barely any rust. Says pat mch 4 02. On the handle it says patd in Canada Aug 27 01. This one also unlocks differently and has a drain for the meat juice to go to.

Antique L.F.& C. Company Universal Cast Iron Hand Crank Meat Grinder #2
Back in the day the development of this type of houseware appliance was consider to be a marvel of its time. The original meat grinders were developed by Landers. Frary and Clark Company during 1897 and became a must have item in numerous homes. This model is a#2 and in outstanding condition. Based on its weight of almost 4 1/2 pounds it is believed to be constructed of cast iron. It measures approximately 11” in length(includes handle) and all moving parts are functional. Stamped into its metal body and handle are the company name and location, which was Bridgeport, Connecticut. The crank has a wooden handle that is also in outstanding condition. Unfortunately the L. F. C. Company discontinued business in 1965. But fortunately this collectible Universal Hand Crank Meat Grinder#2 has survived the test of time and would make a grand addition ... moreto any collection of nostalgic Americana inventions and quality. Antique Universal food chopper- working condition w/ pamphlet I have a newer version of this that I use every morning to grind nuts to go in my oatmeal. This one is covered with writing and patent dates. And just looks cool as all get out. As far as I can tell, there isn’t much that can go wrong with them. The latest of the patent dates is the American one(1900) The other patent dates are for Canada. The United Kingdom and Belgium. There are four cutters. Two of them appear to be for meat. Another is marked“Bread Crumber” And the last one says Condition– It has a patina that shows a lot of use. But there are no bad scratches on it. Some of the pages of the pamphlet are loose and it’s somewhat brittle with age. But it is otherwise readable. Since this weighs well over 4 pounds before any box or packaging. I will send it in a medium flat rate ... morebox, the cost of which will be $12.65- Free local pickup is an option if you can make your way to Saint Paul. I always like to make the acquaintance of buyers who might like to tour my warehouse. I ship only within the U.S. so no international transactions, thank you.
