Old Antique 1900 Patent Universal No. 1, Food Chopper, Meat Grinder, Cast Iron
Here's an old or antique Universal No. 1"Food Chopper" or meat grinder kitchen tool we received recently with some older kitchen items. This one has many raised markings on the cast iron pieces and seems to have had patents in the late 1800's with one noted as 1900. So this is probably from the very early 1900's. The cutoff piece is reversible and has a multitooth side and a three tooth side. The wood handle is in nice shape with slight signs of use and age as one might expect. My guess is this had been in use for making hash or other ground meat and vegetable type meals up until recently. It is relatively clean though a little fine cleaning could be done. Other markings indicate"L F& C" of New Britain. CT, USA. To lend a little scale to the photos the grinder stands about 8 inches tall from the bottom ... moreof the frame to the top of the frame. The opening is about 3 inches by 2.5 inches. Nice old or antique kitchen tool, seems suited for continued use. That's about it. Hi. You are looking at a cast iron tinned meat grinder made by Enterprise. It features a wooden handle and'Pat. Jan.30.83 Apl.13.86, Philadelphia U.S.A. on one side. It has been left in its original condition with no restorations. It has more of a gray appearance than silver. There is rust throughout and some small spots of paint. The interior looks nicer but is also rusty. The strain plate has surface rust as well. The copper ring on the wooden handle has turned green and is loose. The handle turns but does make a lot of noise. It sits flat on a flat surface and is able to be screwed down. It is complete and appears to work properly. Pieces look much better when disassembled. Antique Vtg Climax Food Chopper Meat Grinder Cast Iron 4 Steampunk Lamp Art ?
This is an old cast iron meat grinder or food chopper as it says. It is in pretty good condition. It has patents and places all over it so I photographed them so you can see. This had just a little surface rust on the inside.So I took it apart and cleaned it and treated it with mineral oil(a safe oil that you use on cutting boards) It could use some more cleaning. This weighs about 4 pounds! The crank turns easily one way, a little more difficult the other, but I am trying it not bolted down. The blade part turns easily. The bolt on the clamp part is a little bent, but does turn in and out. THIS IS REALLY HEAVY! IT BARELY FITS INTO A FLAT RATE ENVELOPE. BUT THAT IS THE ONLY AFFORDABLE WAY TO SHIP THIS. Now here is a rare antique HARPER meat grinder or food mill. This is the only one I've ever seen. And even rare on eBay. This grinder is of English origin, very few"on this side of the pond" The others that I have been able to find in the internet have a lot of rust and dings on the enamel. This one, offered here for sale is in nearly pristine(all things considered) condition. AND it grinds like the quality machine that it is. Hey! I'm really impressed with this gadget, I like it so much, I don't know why I'm selling it. It attaches firmly to the lip of a table(mine is an old wooden farm table) with no slip or wiggle. ANTIQUE CAST IRON MEAT GRINDER. I bought this classic meat grinder a while back at an auction. I didn't need it then and still don't. But it's such a neat old piece that I couldn't pass it up. It is a RUSSWIN No. 0 model and was built by the Russell& Irwin Mfg Co in New Britain, Con. U.S.A. It reads"PAT. MCH 4, 02" on the body, and on the handle is states"PAT'D. IN CANADA AUG. 27, 01. I assume those are 19 02& 19 01. Although I suppose it's possible it could be 18 02& 18 01. But if you are looking at antique meat grinders I'm sure you know which century it represents. So I'll leave that up to you. It is about 9" long overall, would stand about 5.75" above the table top, and weighs 3 pounds, 12 ounces. One of the interesting things about this piece to me is that in spite ... moreof being a great Early American Collectible, with a little cleaning I'm sure it would grind meat as well as when it was new. And it doesn't even have to be plugged in! This is a solid, well-built machine and as far as I can tell, still has all its pieces& parts. Vintage Hale’s Genuine Russell and Erwin Cast Iron Tobacco Meat Sausage Grinder
This is for the heavy cast iron grinder that you see here. Not sure the age. I am guessing from the 1920's or 1930's. But that's just a guess. Could be before, maybe could be later. Not sure. Pretty sure it is a meat grinder, probably sausage grinder/stuffer. Not sure if a tobacco grinder, too. All original parts, inc. the wooden handle. Missing one og the greas, or whatever they are called(picture#10) Needs a good cleaning. Some surface rust on the inside, as you can see, but can be cleaned.
