The grinder has the original paperwork, a pamphlet with product information and includes both care instructions and a parts list, with prices and is in its original red box. The chopper was manufactured in the United States. The chopper is made of cast iron, treated with a tin finish to avoid rusting. It has 3 cutting blades for fine, medium and coarse chopping, all of which are clean and sharp. One has only a little bit of rust which would undoubtedly clean up well. The grinder is clean and in very good condition. The paperwork and box are in good structural condition, though both have significant staining. Old Antique 1900 Patent Universal No. 1, Food Chopper, Meat Grinder, Cast Iron
Here's an old or antique Universal No. 1"Food Chopper" or meat grinder kitchen tool we received recently with some older kitchen items. This one has many raised markings on the cast iron pieces and seems to have had patents in the late 1800's with one noted as 1900. So this is probably from the very early 1900's. The cutoff piece is reversible and has a multitooth side and a three tooth side. The wood handle is in nice shape with slight signs of use and age as one might expect. My guess is this had been in use for making hash or other ground meat and vegetable type meals up until recently. It is relatively clean though a little fine cleaning could be done. Other markings indicate"L F& C" of New Britain. CT, USA. To lend a little scale to the photos the grinder stands about 8 inches tall from the bottom ... moreof the frame to the top of the frame. The opening is about 3 inches by 2.5 inches. Nice old or antique kitchen tool, seems suited for continued use. That's about it. This was my mothers. It is an original vintage meat/sausage/food grinder by Universal. It comes with 3 attachments for coarse. Medium and fine grind settings. 10" maxiumum length and 7-1/4 inches maximum width. It clamps onto a cabinet or table for use. It has a wood knob on the handle for turning. It is clean, shiny and in excellent fully working condition. All screws and other parts turn easily. Vintage 60s Universal Food Chopper Meat Grinder #2 w/5 Cutters - in Original Box
This cast iron. Hand-operated Universal Food and Meat Chopper#2 is in very clean& functional condition, with five cutter blades for coarse, medium and fine chopping. The food chopper is stored unassembled in original box with warranty. The box still has the Macys store label from where this was apparently purchased. There is no instruction sheet included. Contents of the box include: grinder; chopping auger with feed screw end; wooden crank handle; five cutter blades; wing nut; and crank screw. The chopper clamps onto a table edge or counter with built-in clamp. This food chopper was“Made in U.S.A. Condition: Clean& shiny with just some occasional minor rust. Wooden handle clean with no chips or splintering. Box is solid but shows some spots and staining inside and out.

I have seen lots of vintage grinder but this is the cleanest I have seen. By far. Please keep in mind that this is a free shipping item and it is pretty heavy. You don't have to pay for shipping.
