Antique Hand Crank Corn Sheller Grinder Grape Press?
Up for bidding is a vintage antique corn grinder or sheller. I purchased this and it was labeled at the sale as a grape press but I think it looks more like a corn grinder or sheller of some sort. I tried putting a full cob of corn in it and it will shell it but it wasnt 100% affective so I'm not sure exactly what its original purpose was. The side label is missing. So I can not give a make and model. It is mounted on some boards and has a hand crank that is in good working order. Has some paint on one side as visible in the pics. Humphrey and Sons K3 Jolliet ILL. USA Shaft holder embossed Cast Iron Bracket. This Piece of Cast Iron I believe is from the late 1800's. This could make a great piece of yard and or part to restore that Humphey and Sons Bone Grinder/ cutter. I am not positive That is what this came from but not 100 percent. Antique Cast Iron Corn Coffee Grist 2MB 2MC Grinder
You are bidding on a cast iron multi purpose grinder that still works. This red grinder still has what appears to be its original red paint. However. I am not the original owner so I cannot confirm if it once was a different color. I am leaving the finish exactly the way it is with its scraps, a little rust, and dings because many collectors want the original finish. I see other auctions with similar grinders that have been refinished with new paint. You can see MB2 in raised characters in a couple of places on it. It stands approximately sixteen and one-quarter inches tall from the bottom of its base to the rim of its hopper. The base is four inches x four inches and the round hopper is approximately six inches in diameter from outside to outside. The wooden handle on the crank is completely intact and turns perfectly. There is a thumb screw ... morethat you can turn that determines how fine you want your grinds. This heavy cast iron grinder would look great in any kitchen or could actually be used to grind up your grains, corn or coffee beans. This unique grinder comes with all original hardware no reproduced parts at all. It stands very flat and sturdy at 14" tall 12.5" wide and 9.5" deep with handle. It weighs 19lbs and turns very well with no hang ups ready to start grinding. There are no noticeable dents or any damage to any parts. the oak handle is not chipped or split. There is strong traces of the original red paint job over the entire piece. All parts have been inspected for proper motion. Very nice Antique Corn, wheat, coffee grinder No. 2
I am offering an antique corn. Wheat, and possibly coffee grinder. I have never ground coffee in it but I have seen them advertised for this purpose. The last time I used it was over 30 years ago and it ground corn very fine. This item has been in my family for at least 100 years. I do not know the original manufacturer and will not speculate on one. It has been painted with a rust control paint but over time it has some pitting showing as can be seen in the photos.
