Antique Cast Iron- Hand Crank- Orient Meat Grinder#5. This grinder is old and looks old. It is just screaming"I need restoration" Apparently. It was painted(back in the day, people painted all sorts of things) and quite a bit of the paint has rubbed off. There is some rust. Cosmetically, it does not look good. But, the moving parts still move. It is very heavy. I have never heard of the brand, which looks like"Orient" If you are looking for a meat grinder in great cosmetic condition, this in NOT for you. It is about 12" long(fully extended to the end of the bolt) x 9 1/4" across(front to end of handle) NOTE: SHIPPING will be reduced if you live in a state close to Maryland. This antique meat grinder is in amazing antique-y condition. It comes with two detachable blades. I believe it probably works still. Although. I have not tested it. This cast iron piece clamps onto a counter top with a c-clamp that works just fine. The wooden tipped hand-crank works smoothly as well. This grinder/chopper measures 11" long at its longest point. I have not attempted to restore it in any way but did wipe it off with a damp towell and take it apart and lubricate the threads. It looks great! Antique/Vintage metal (cast iron) meat grinder Economy No.1
This meat grinder was found along with many other items from a home built in 1950. The imprint on the side reads Economy No. 1. Then along the handle it reads PAT'D MCH 22.04. I've done extensive research and plan on going to an antique dealer for more information about this unique piece. At this time I have little information- there are several No. 10 Economy Meat Grinders. But no No. 1's. There is an extra grinder plate and overall it is in good condition. Knowing the history of this house. Owned by the Sohn's in the 50's, and understanding that the items found here were purchased during that time, and after hours of reading and internet searching) leads me to believe that No. 1 may be the first model. I will update this description as soon as I have more information.

Back in the day the development of this type of houseware appliance was consider to be a marvel of its time. The original meat grinders were developed by Landers. Frary and Clark Company during 1897 and became a must have item in numerous homes. This model is a#2 and in outstanding condition. Based on its weight of almost 4 1/2 pounds it is believed to be constructed of cast iron. It measures approximately 11” in length(includes handle) and all moving parts are functional. Stamped into its metal body and handle are the company name and location, which was Bridgeport, Connecticut. The crank has a wooden handle that is also in outstanding condition. Unfortunately the L. F. C. Company discontinued business in 1965.
