But just, slightly wiggly. I'm not a carpenter or a wood guy, so I didn't want to try and tighten them. The leather cushion is clearly in disrepair. It would need to be restored in order to make it look nice. It has springs on the underside. Here are the measurements at the various parts: front edge of left arm to front edge of right arm is 51" wide- back edge of left arm to back edge of back arm is 43 1/2" wide- seat back itself is 43 1/4" wide- height is 37 3/4" depth is 21 3/4" For the cushion. This classic victorian style piano stool is very pretty. And would make a great restoration project. The bottom frame is composed of cast iron. It is beautifully engraved and features three gorgeous twisted legs that add volumes to the overall style. The seat portion appears to be made of pine. It looks as if it was just the base that a padded cushion or covering was glued to. You can see some of the left over residue from this in the pictures. The cast iron portion is in great shape, with no dents, dings or bends whatsoever. The part that adjust spins up and down quite smoothly. A really gorgeous antique(Victorian) miniature 4 legged milking stool. This has a lovely grain and I believe is therefore oak. But am not an expert. With a rectangular top and tapered legs. The stool stands 7 inches tall. Top measures 10.5 x 7.5 inches. This has some considerable age. But comes in really lovely condition. It is very slight signs of wear. But nothing major to mention and legs and extremely strong and sound and piece has no significant wear, damage, marking, etc. From a smoke free home.

Here on offer is a wonderful rare antique Victorian carved and upholstered footstool with a concealed warming pan. This delightful little stool features beautifully carved details around the walls and rests on four lovely turned feet. The stool has suffered from woodworm. But this has been treated and cured. The stool ha an upholstered top that has been secured with brass pins. The footstool has a lid with a simple brass catch and handle. Once opened the footstool reveals a concealed warming pan. The brass pan is original to the stool. It has a ribbed upper surface with a handle and stopper on one side. The pan contains something heavy and would be warmed by the addition of hot water. The company was founded sometime in the 1860's by Henry Holtzman in either Pittsburgh. PA or New York City, New York. Sources differ on this point. In 1893 the business was moved to Colombus, Ohio and was run by Holtzman's sons Frank and Charles. The business grew to be one of the largest piano stool and piano cover manufacturers in the country. Made by the Briggs Patent Portable Ottoman Portfolio Piano Stool- Patented April 28th. 1868 and Aug 31st, 1869. Briggs' Manufactory of Portable. Patent Piano Stools- This business was commended in town, in a small way, by Joshua Briggs, in 1862. He made, at old jobs, one dozen of piano-stools in 1863, accupying the basement of Robert Day's shop, near'Wilder's Manufactory, North Peterborough. In the spring of 1864 he rented the second story and attic of'Brennan's Building, in the village, and continued them until the whole building was too limited for his vastly increased business, when he purchased the saw-mill of Mark Wilder, and erected for his manufactory, in the summer of 1873, his present large and commodius buildings. The progress of his business was gradual, from making a dozen piano-stools by himself, as in ... more1862, 63' and then with hiring one or two hands a part of the time, to his present condition. He now employs, when the business is good, from twenty-five to thirty hands in the shop, and at the same time hires all his iron-work, castings, screws, etc. done outside. Mr Briggs has secured five several patents on his piano-stools; two on the screw style, two on the ottoman style, one on the portable back. The Massachusetts Charitable Mechanics' Association, Boston, in September, 1869, awarded to him a diploma and honorable mention of his piano-stools. In September, 1871, at the New England Fair at Lowell, Mass, a silver medal was awarded him for his portable piano-stools. Overall good condition. Ornate cast iron legs. Wooden painted frame shows some minor wear and paint loss. Hinges appear to have been replaced. I believe that it was originally used as a slipper bench, which was common in this era. The material on the top and bottom match and are in excellent condition with no stains or tears and no smells, but is not original to the piece. The piece itself is also in great condition. I used it in Rhode Island. Then in Florida, then in Phoenix, then stored it for 7 years with some of the potential"keepers" in my life. Not knowing where I'd be living or what size my permanent home was going to be, I knew some of the furniture, pottery, and artwork would be more than I could absorb. Deep sighs. I really had hoped this chest would fit in somewhere. We are over 65 and living small- on 5 acres- but small. Some things are appearing in this ebay store. This box is the perfect chest to act as a bench at the foot of the bed, under a window, on a long side of a serious farm table, or as a coffee table. Oh my gosh, such a great chest with its chip ... morecarved border on every surface except the bottom and back. The back is finished to the point where it can be exposed to view, although it lacks the chip carved ornamentation. If being used as a bench, facing a table, and exposed to the room at the back, I would turn it around and face the room, making it also easier to open without having to pull it out or turn it. This is a super place for seasonal TV watching blankets and table linens. It's a great place to hide the sterling. Who would think to look? Behind the chest, in the first picture, you can see the Welsh dresser that I absolutely am keeping, built a specific spot in the house sized to fit. It occurred to me that this chest could slide under the Welsh dresser and serve to hold table linens, etc. but it is just too perfectly sized. If I put stuff in it, the way I want to, it won't slide out and if I add rollers, it will be too tall. It just has to go. PRICE REDUCED*This is a wonderful Antique Iron Piano Stool. Patented in 1866 by M. Greenwood& Co. It is very heavy and solid. The Iron is painted a medium blue. There is some loss of paint on the feet, but the rest of the paint is in relatively good condition. The seat is covered in a gold/yellow handmade needlepoint with a floral center design. The seat seems to be a bit dull in color, however it is in relatively good condition commensurate with the age of the piece. I have no idea if the seat is original. The padding on the seat does not seem very thick, however it is not uncomfortable to sit upon. There is a thread mechanism that allows the seat to rise to a different height. However, the seat does wobble a bit. In its lowest position the stool is about 18 inches high the seat is 12 inches wide. very rare prudent mallard piano stool. Made in the mid 1800's. an antique expert attributed this piece to mallard. it appears the actual craftsman has incised his name into the bottom of the seat frame. at any rate, it has a great look to it, wonderful form and is solid rosewood. it has a solid pedestal that has an unique form which tapers into a small receptacle for the seat screw at the top, however, the pedestal from the bottom of the base starts wide, goes in, and then flares out somewhat. neat design that i have not seen before. the four legs attach to the base of the pedestal. the seat has a very nice period looking new fabric. the stool is 18 inches across the base, 18 inches across the widest part of the seat, and 16 inches across the smaller dimension of the seat. the seat is made in a somewhat of an oval, but the corners of ... morethe seat have a definite angle to them and are not merely rounded. it stands 21 inches tall when the seat is all the way down and just at 27 inches tall when it is screwed out as far as it will go. the screw locks when it is out to it's allowable extended distance and also locks at the bottom sitting. great piece, rare form, noted maker, solid rosewood, perfect condition as far as i can tell. it may be picked up at my home or shipped at buyer's expense. good luck.
