This is an original 1920's vintage UHL American industrial"posture line" factory industrial chair. Please refer to pictures as they are a big part of the description. Chairs are in very good structual condition. Walnut chair seat and back are in great condition in relation to these chairs age. Metal shows surface rust in places as pictured. But I have decided to leave them in as found condition with the green paint with light rust as some prefer the patina that comes with age. Original rubber feet with the words"Pussyfoot" and"Toledo Metal Co. are imprinted into the rubber. These chairs fabricated around 1922-25 by The Toledo Metal Furniture Co. This factory office chair was made according to the recommendations of the American Posture League of New York City. Its use brings the pelvis in right relation to the spine. So that one's weight is distributed over the pelvis and thighs. Nearly all parts of the chair are comprised of steel, cold rolled and die formed. The base is rigidly braced and has long wearing quality. The braces which make the base rigid are held in place by retainers set inside the"u" shaped legs, so that there is no pivoting motion to weaken the construction. The back wire or spring support is made of spring steel and yields pleasantly to the pressure of the body. Four bolts with large size wing nuts hold the seat and"spider" in the base of the chair. Adjustment of height is accomplished by removing the wing nuts and bolts, setting at proper heights and replacing the bolts. The seat should always be level, which is assured by seeing that the same number of holes appear above or below the brace on each leg of the large steel channel which furnishes the adjustment. The contoured saddle seat and backrest are made of Walnut wood

vintage 40s Toledo UHL Draftsman Stool OAK SEAT & GREEN BASE chair Machine Age
Very nice all original UHL Toledo Draftsman pivoting chair with wooden casters. This is the first one I have had with quartersawn tiger oak seat and back. The height adjustment(15-1/4" to 18-1/4" is made via the metal plates under the seat. O riginal military green finish base with only normal light surface wear. No damage. Very sturdy. An excellent chair. By removing 4 wing nuts the seat easily separates from the base- I have priced shipping based on my doing this to reduce the package size. If you prefer that I ship it in one piece I can adjust the shipping rate to reflect the actual cost of doing so. Most items i list are from local estates and usually they are in areas of collecting that I have little or no knowledge of. Offered is an Uhl Toledo Stool. The label is on the wood seat so we know the seat is original. There are scratches and stains on the seat. There are scratches on the paint but overall the paint is pretty good. Mechanically it is complete and operates properly. The swivel pads are intact and work well. Overall condition is very good. If you have questions. Please ask before bidding. Please Note: This is a vintage pre-owned item that was well cared-for. No International Sales Due To Size. ITEM: Vintage Industrial metal drafting or office chair or stool with plywood seat and back and original wheels. This seat and back were originally upholstered and the original covering was shot. It was removed and the original adhered horse-hair padding is intact and in superior condition. It is what is on the seat and back currently. As you can see in the pictures. The back and seat are removable with a common pair of pliers and the original bolts/nuts are intact. Basically, you can recover the seat and back in whatever material you want to match your decor and taste. The back is also completely removable so you can use this as a stool, if desired. I believe the chair was made by Toledo ... moreUhl or one of their contemporaries. WHEN MADE: Late 1930s SIZE: Approximately 16 1/2" across the seat and 16" across the wheels on the base. The back rest will adjust is adjustable for height and measures 32" to 34" to the top of the seat. The seat height is adjustable to about 17" to 22" to the top of the seat. You adjust the height by rotating the threaded centerpost of the chair in the base and setting a round threaded lockwheel on the centerpost to hold it in place. CONDITION: Free of breaks. Cracks, bends or denting. All mechanical adjusters work as they should. The wheels all turn and are free of flat spots or splits. The chair frame has been repainted. Please note that any light spots in the pictures are from my lighting and not actually on this piece. Please see photos for condition. This Antique office drafting chair is one I know the full history of. It came from Cottrell's Printing Press Manufacturers in Pawcatuck, Ct. Made by Toledo Metal Furniture Co. UHL Steel USA, it's age is est. 1930-1940. I purchased this chair in 1969 when Cottrell's was upgrading furniture they sold these to employees. The chair, stool is very comfortable as people sat in them for 8 hrs or more a day. When I bought the chair it was close to 35 years old and I have had it for 44 yrs. This was built for an industrial machine shop setting, it is fully adjustable from 28" low setting to 32 1/2" high setting as well as the back rest being adjustable, it swivels has a curved seat made of walnut veneer 16" x 14" the back is 6" x 13" also in walnut veneer. A comfortable foot rest at 12 1/2" high is made ... moreof metal. The entire base is metal with a bit of surface rust on it, otherwise the chair is in excellent condition for it's age. Vintage Toledo UHL Gray Industrial Drafting Stool Chair Antique - Must See!
Up for sale is a beautiful vintage original Toledo UHL drafting stool in very good condition. Like anything that is over 70-80 years old. It has some nicks, scratches and such. However on the whole it is in really nice shape as well as being very clean. The stool has some rust spots where the paint has warn away over time on it as are visible in the pictures. But nothing out of the ordinary for its age. It has been well cared for, but has that desired aged look where you can tell it has been around. The sticker fell off it at some point. I took a picture of the spot before wiping it off so you can see it was a real Toledo stool. If you have ever seen the sticker between the 2 rivets you can see the outline there to know that it was once on there many years ago. It will make a great addition to someone who is looking for a vintage piece like ... morethis that can appreciate its"character" and imperfections. While being proud to have a clean functional example of a timeless drafting stool. As far as shipping. In the past what I have done is take the back riser part off as it is easily removable, so that I can properly box the stool to be able to ship it anywhere in the continental U.S for a reasonable price. The buyer will have to put the back riser back on, but it is only held on by 4 bolts and is easily done. Trying to ship it any other way is far too costly and just not practical given the size. Vintage Industrial Toledo Uhl Stool Machine Chair drafting mid Century steampunk
I have lots of Mid Century and industrial stuff listed and more on the way including more UHL stools. This is a nice old one it does work the back pivots as well as adjusts up and down from 39 3/4 down to 29 inches. The seat adjusts also from 25 3/4 to 17 3/4. It has normal wear but the wood seat and back could be refinished if you wanted to but it has lots of character.

This identified by the seatback attachment, among other obvious things. This chair is in great condition overall for it's age. No damage or mechanical issues. Even the wheels are smooth. I have not done much to this chair but gently cleaned steel with 0004 steel wool, and Murphys Oil Soap. So the original green is preserved nicely, and the patina is excellent looking(aged) chair; for the Modernist, Steampunk, Machine Age, or Drafting/Engineering Type. Antique Uhl Toledo Industrial Drafting Machinist Stool/Chair Tall w Wood Seat
For sale is a great vintage Toledo stool. It has a nice green and rusty patina. The seat raises from 27 1/4" to 31 3/4" The back height is 42" at the low setting. The spring on the lever to raise and lower the seat has been replaced and is not as rigid as the older spring. The wood on the seat and back has the normal wear scratches and discoloration. And also has a curious little dent on one side that is shown in the pictures. Great looking functional stool. Please ask questions and view pictures as all sales are final.
