This is a great shabby white bench. Its well made with the double apron style. Has the nice fan out legs. Its peeling white paint just adds to the piece to fit into a shabby decor or a primitive one. VERY VERY NICE OLD, HAND PAINTED DEACONS BENCH
This is a very nice. Unique, deacons bench. Each of the flowers painted on the bench I can see are slightly different which tells me that it is hand painted. When I bought this it looked exactly like it does in the photo's. You will see that the paint appears to be all worn? Well. The seat especially the paint was flaking off. I feel lucky to have found it like this and not refinished. Now. Right or wrong, what I did was to sand, EXTREMELY lightly. The paint/ finish was obviously still flaking off. I then applied a matt. Clear, spray finish to it. I believe I applied 3 or 4 coats to it and I think it worked very well. At least I DID obtain the desired effect anyway. Now. I hope you can see in the photo's that it still does look worn but it is NOT flaking anymore and it's nice and smooth and looks very original. Which I feel it ... moredoes still qualify to be original finish. As I said it is 100% sturdy. Ok. The size? The seat is 4 foot X 16" and it's 32- 1/2" tall. To the top of the back. Now I have never shipped anything like this before and can not imagine that I can. Effectively, or economically. So this will have to be( PICK UP ONLY) I am in Leesburg Florida. 34788. This solid eastern pine ... morebench design is a blend of colonial with the traditional keyhole cutout on the legs. The manner in the the center brace is designed it gives the bench a more open look. Plus highlights the neat slope of the legs. All the peg holes adorned with a daisy flower petal pattern. There are no plans for these. I just start with whatever unique wood I can find locally and go from there, often varying design, length, width, and height to bring about a highly unique bench, all are basically Early American style. This bench is assembled with the minimum use of nails to hold in place while pegs and glue take hold. There are no metal braces. Brackets, no staples, nothing but strong oak pegs and high quality waterproof glue. These are all hand assembled. And then stressed with wear areas, worm holes, gouges, markings which give them their antique look and character. They are then stained in a variety of shades to match the type and grain of the wood. Finally they are finished with multiple coats of a high quality shellac, each coat hand rubbed to reduce gloss, then multiple coats of high quality furniture wax is used to bring out the sheen in the wood. Now featuring a face-lift with my hand painting rendition of an old Paris post card. This stool was fun to paint, and I sure hope you enjoy viewing it! Oodles of detail involved! After sanding and priming. I painted the background of the legs and the top in a strong pink color. The spindles and the edge of the top were painted with"lavender frost, a lovely color with just a hint of lavender in it. Then the fun began! I painted a detailed border of prim dots to resemble antique lace. In the center of the lace I painted a vintage-looking Parisian postal card. Finishing off the painting are my signature cabbage roses in the corner. Signed by me, and then sealed several times with a high-gloss sealant to offer ... moreyou years of beauty and use. This stool is old. It has a slight wobble to it. But it's still plenty sturdy. I have sat and stood on this, and it held me just fine. Through the years there was some repair work done to the stool(I believe the stool is hand-made) as there is some glue residue down a leg or two. I couldn't sand the residue off, so what the heck, I just painted right over it. This just adds, I feel, to the vintage charm of this piece! No miniature here.the stool measures a full 17-3/4 inches high. The top is 1 foot squared. The legs"flare" out a little bit at the bottom. And they are 11-1/2 inches deep, front to back, and their widest point. What a wonderfully unique way to display a potted plant in your front foyer or outside on your patio! Give your little Granddaughter her own special place to sit when she comes to visit you by letting her rest upon this! You could even display a cherished knicknack on this enclosed under a ball jar. However you decide to display it(or actually USE it to reach those pesky high-up items) It's sure to draw compliments! Think of MOM for Mother's Day A fabulous small bench from Pennsylvania DutchLancaster. PA this is a hand painted piece of folk art. The bench measures 24" long. 7" wide and 7-1/2" high. All hand painted, the style is similar to toleware painted metal pieces. The fruit and leaves are delicate with lots of details rather than the broad bold strokes most commonly seen on PA Dutch items. Purchased at an estate sale. It was estimated to be about 100 years old. The bench is constructed with the 5 pieces interlocking: top. 2 ends, 2 sides. There are no screws or wooden dowels to be seen. It appears to be shiplapped piecing with only 8 iron/steel nails to hold it together. The nails are cleverly hidden in the paint. In most cases I could not find them until I used a magnet. Rare American Federal Black and Gilt Painted Fourteen-Leg Settee Late Sheraton. C. 1820-40 Item# 130204KNI21 This is a very fine Rare American Painted Bench or Settee with Six-Chairbacks over Fourteen Legs. A Late Federal work of art in the Sheraton taste, probably c. 1820-40. The design, particularly in the legs, closely conforms to the sentiments of Hitchcock chair designs(c. 1825-50) of the earliest form- the artisan of this bench elevates the form quite drastically with the intense ribbing of the bamboo-style legs and stiles. The canted back features rail-and-ball horizontal spindles over conforming arms flanking a deep and comfortable Rush seat[replaced] The fragility of the form is eliminated with careful attention to pressure points, this work supported with doubled front-to-back stretcher systems in the legs, double-spindle stretchers ... morein the medial of the arms and six spindles per chair back. The settee rests over fourteen legs. Each carefully carved with olive-green highlights in it's precise ring turnings, the legs each terminating in tiny ball toes- the right and leftmost legs flare slightly outward, removing the stoic aesthetic of what could otherwise remain too square to be visually refined. Preserved in unusually fine condition. This is a treasure of early Americana. Forms like this would typically grace a long hallway, entranceway or the landing of a second story. This is an absolute work of art to be cherished for a lifetime by serious collectors of American furniture. Measurements: 20 3/4" deep. You are buying a beautiful antique 1800’s solid cast iron moon design fabric vanity bench. This piece measures 24 1/2 inches long. 12 inches wide, and 17 inches tall. It features beautiful cast iron ends with a moon and branch like design. The cast iron ends have remnants of gold paint in some spots with a hand painted green and red triangle. Old, Vintage Wood Bench/ Stool found in the loft of an old barn. It measures approx. 18" long x 11 1/2" wide x 10 1/2" tall. White paint with layers of old colors beneath- green& gray(probably its original color) Condition is good. A bit of wear& character from use and age. Scratches, dings, scuffs. A little dusty& dirty needs to be cleaned up a bit. Sturdy& Strong. Nice aged patina. See photos for condition. A nice find to use outside or inside for plants. Sturdy ... moreenough to stand on. Vintage Pair Small Country Cottage Painted Wood Wooden Stool Bench Plant Stand
This auction is for a matching pair of folk art stools or benches that appear to be handmade. They are not exactly matched because one is about 6 ounces heavier than the other. They each measure about 9" x 11" on top and are about 8 1/2" high and are painted with a heavy gloss enamel paint. Classic design with strong construction.
